LOCATION: Phoenix, AZ - SW Divisional Headquarters

STATUS: FT 40hrs/wk (Flex schedule to meet the demands of the department)

QUALIFICATIONS



  • Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
  • 4 years' experience working with youth required
  • Ability to commit to living at Camp Ponderosa from mid-May thru July annually, if assigned
  • Salvationist in good standing preferred
  • Must be theologically aligned with Salvation Army doctrine
  • Ability to demonstrate good character at all times
  • Must have a heart and a passion for the spiritual development of young people
  • Must be familiar with all Salvation Army Programs and terminology
  • Must be willing to travel with Divisional Staff to various Corps
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Programs, typing 50 wmp (minimum)
  • Have a good knowledge of common office equipment
  • Must be detail oriented, possess strong organizational skills and able to multi-task
  • Must possess strong people skills and be able to work as a team as well as be self-motivated
  • Must have a valid Arizona Driver's License and complete TSA Fleet Safety Program
  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background check


RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Develop, implement, and manage and help sustain a Divisional Youth Impact Team
  • Develop, implement, and manage and help sustain the Divisional Youth organizational Mission Team with a hands-on approach to mentoring and molding the program as directed by the DYS.
  • Develop and assist the leadership of Young Adult Discipleship and Fellowship group
  • Assisting in the planning, advertising, and managing all aspects of youth events including but not limited to: Divisional Youth Retreat, Area-wide Youth Fellowship, Rallies, and other retreats and activities.
  • Assist the DYCS with Corps Cadets and Jr. Soldier's as needed by keeping up to date with levels of participation, supply requests, communications, providing resources, et. al.
  • Provide Attendance information to the DYS for all events for billing purposes
  • Maintain a brief program for all youth events and activities.
  • Create and send advertisements and correspondence to Corps for all youth events, utilizing the Divisional Multimedia Specialist if and when necessary.
  • Attend, assist, and supervise staff/chaperones and delegates at all Divisional Youth events, including weekend (Friday-Sunday) events in New Mexico, Nevada, and Arizona
  • Attend Territorial Youth Events as needed
  • Assist DYCS with Youth Leadership Training Seminars
  • Assist with Youth Department led DHQ Chapel Services
  • Assist with AV equipment set-up as needed
  • Remain in communication with Corps about youth activities during the summer camp months to ensure that Corps are supported and provided with resources as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned by DYCS pertaining to youth ministries


CAMP



  • Process camper applications and oversee camp database
  • Responsible for planning, assisting, advertising and overseeing of the Youth LEAD camp (leadership, Education and Discipleship).
  • Keep an organized account of camper slots and registration for each Corps and keep up to date with email correspondence to resolve issues and answer questions related to camper slots.
  • Oversee and direct first and last day procedures
  • Oversee and process SFSP (Summer Food Service Program) to ensure maximum funding recovery
  • Manage critical incidents with professionalism and expediency

Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
