This position will support the university's Department of Computer Science (UTCS), which boasts a top ten ranking from US News and more than 6,500 students across all programs. This places UT among the most significant intellectual hubs for computer science research and education anywhere in the world. UTCS has a close relationship with Austin's thriving tech culture and works at the forefront of fields such as artificial intelligence, robotics, quantum computing, and cybersecurity. UTCS is seeking a human resources coordinator to support the faculty, staff, and student employees in our growing department.

Must be eligible to work in the United States on a full time basis for any employer.

Purpose

As a member of the Finance and Administration team, this position supports the Department of Computer Science with coordinating and administrating human resources activities such as hiring, onboarding, changes in employment, timekeeping, compliance, work authorizations, process improvement, and employee support. The Human Resource Coordinator applies best practices, professional acumen, and excellent customer service in all HR functional areas.

Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the CS Senior HR Coordinator and members of the Finance and Administration team to support the full employment lifecycle and provide comprehensive human resources support to faculty, students, and staff.
  • Coordinate recruitment, hiring, changes in employment, and separations. This position will have primary responsibility for student employment and will assist with staff and faculty HR tasks as needed.
  • Process pre-employment authorizations, coordinate and ensure I-9 compliance, and track and respond to student eligibility requirements.
  • Act as a department timekeeper, ensuring compliance with payroll deadlines and university and department policies.
  • Act as a backup for the Sr. Human Resources Coordinator
  • Collaborate with College of Natural Sciences and UT central HR offices, Payroll Services, and other related offices for related human resource functions.
  • Demonstrate exceptional customer service with both internal and external customers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of two years of experience in human resources. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

  • Previous success working independently and in a team-oriented, customer service environment.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills and the ability to support a wide range of diverse constituencies.
  • Ability to manage a high volume of work assignments under dynamic circumstances while maintaining accuracy, and discretion in dealing with sensitive issues.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Workday and University of Texas employment policies.
  • Previous experience in a higher education setting working closely with faculty and graduate students.
  • Ability to anticipate the needs of the department proactively and develop systems to streamline processes.
  • Strong Excel, data tracking, and organizational skills.
Salary Range

$58,000 + depending on qualifications
