The Medical Assistant functions as a member of the clinic's patient care team that includes registered nurses, technicians, educators, clerical staff, medical students, residents, fellows, nurse practitioners, and physicians. The Medical Assistant performs technical patient related functions and clerical functions in the ambulatory setting with limited supervision. The MA is also aware of the psychosocial needs of patients and families.

Qualifications:
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant Program (one year at a Vocational School)
  • Eligible to be certified as a Medical Assistant by the AAMA--American Association of Medical Assistants within 6 months of hire date
  • Possesses knowledge and skills required to effectively care for patients in one or more of the following age groups: Neonatal, Pediatric, Adolescent, Adult, and Geriatric

Preferred Qualifications:
  • One year of work in a medical setting
  • CPR training
  • Certified as a Medical Assistant by the AAMA-American Association of Medical Assistants
