Job Summary

Assist research faculty in the creation of technical data packages for sponsored research. This position will create configuration controlled 2D drawings (mechanical and electrical) using source material provided by research faculty. Other duties will include maintaining organization of CAD libraries (2D blocks/notes, 3D reference parts) and generating 3D models of components for use in design applications. This position will interact on a regular basis with: research faculty and support staff. This position typically will advise and counsel: research faculty, professional and support staff. This position will supervise: N/A

Responsibilities

Duty 1 -
Generate 2D drawings (mechanical and electrical) in accordance with ASME Y14 using source material provided by research faculty.

Duty 2 -
Ensure configuration management is maintained by following established processes and policies.

Duty 3 -
Maintain organization of 3-dimensional model library and 2-dimensional block library.

Duty 4 -
Reverse engineer (dimensionally) provided components utilizing hand measuring tools and generate 3-dimensional models of items.

Duty 5 -
Assists research faculty with integrated and associative BOMs (Bill of Materials)

Experience with SolidWorks Mechanical and SolidWorks Electrical.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

KNOWLEDGE
- Requires experience in both 2D and 3D CAD tools (Examples are SolidWorks, Inventor, AutoCad, Draftsight, SolidEdge, Pro-E, Catia).
- Requires knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio)
- Require understanding of mechanical and manufacturing concepts, as well as a technical understanding of how components are assembled
- Familiarity with product and data management tools such as EPDM, Windchill, TeamCenter, SAP preferred, as well as a familiarity and understanding of ASME Y14 standards

Salary range is dependent on candidates experiences and skills that ranges from $20.68 - $28.12.
