What this job involves:

The Data Center Operating Engineeris responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and performing preventive maintenance and continuous operation of all data center systems to maintain 100% Up-time. This vital role ensures the reliable operation of mission-critical infrastructure including fire/life safety, mechanical, electrical, and emergency backup systems around the clock. You'll be the expert responsible for analyzing system operations, managing incidents, and providing remote hands and eyes services for customers while maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance, directly contributing to JLL's commitment to excellence in data center operations.

What your day-to-day will look like:

  • Responsible for maintaining, monitoring, and performing preventive maintenance and continuous operation of all data center systems to maintain 100% Up-time including: fire/life safety, mechanical systems such as (HVAC, chillers, crac, crah, plumbing, controls), electrical including emergency backup systems such as (lighting, UPS, ATS, STS, PDU, generators, primary switchgear, power distribution, transformers), and hot water systems. Monitors operation, adjusts, and maintains refrigeration, chilled water, and air conditioning equipment; boilers, and ventilating and water heaters; pumps, valves, piping, and filters; other mechanical and electrical equipment. Must record readings and make and adjust where necessary to ensure proper operation of equipment. Monitor building management systems and respond to alarms and alerts promptly

  • Requires the ability to analyze the operation of various systems, determine the cause of any problems/malfunctions and take corrective action as required

  • Learn and understand the data center site in-order to manage incidents and events that put the critical systems at risk

  • Work order management, including CMMS, Vendor Management, and Customer Facing Tickets

  • Provide remote hands and eyes services for customers

  • Provide high level computer hardware and software configuration support. Install suite wall, cage material, ladder rack, fiber tray, cabinets, cabling, and customer equipment based on documentation provided by provisioning documentation and established Data Center Operation procedures

  • Process work orders for preventative and corrective maintenance on critical, building, and site infrastructure. Consults with supervisor or team lead to order necessary tools and equipment as required to complete all maintenance and perform necessary work

  • Uses the Change Management Process to get approval for preventative and corrective maintenance. Commences & completes the maintenance along with the necessary documentation using the JLL process and software

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent

  • 4+ years related work experience

  • Experience with systems, emergency generators, and switchgear

  • Demonstrated verbal/written communication skills

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals

  • Working knowledge or the capability of developing proficient knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Outlook and Microsoft Access and any other software packages

  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs, climb ladders up to 30 ft, and work from heights

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Corrigo Experience

  • MCIM / Salesforce Experience

  • Zendesk Experience

  • Service Now Experience

  • Hands-on experience working in a data center/critical facility, including UPS

  • Experience with Change Management Process and ticketing systems

Work Shift:

Night Shift: 7pm - 7am

4/3 rotating schedule

On-site -Atlanta, GA
