Senior Structures Engineer Overview:

The Senior Structures Engineer is responsible for establishing technical programs and managing all day-to-day technical issues related to aircraft structures. This position has primary job responsibility for the technical aspects of Maintenance Engineering activity based upon Safety, FAA Regulations, Reliability, and cost of ownership issues.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Identify and assign all Engineering Task Cards/Authorizations to address structural repairs and alterations.
  • Review and disposition structural Airworthiness Directives, Service Bulletins, Service Letters, etc.
  • Serve as a point of contact for vendors on technical issues relating aircraft structures, and the establishment of procedures for coordinating and resolving technical issues with vendors.
  • Provide remote and on-site structures engineering assistance to support airline maintenance personnel with maintenance activity.
  • Provide after-hours engineering support for problems encountered during airline maintenance activities and line operations.
  • Conduct Structural Repair Record reviews for corrosion reporting.
  • Develop and maintain aircraft fuselage repair/alteration process and procedures to include fatigue critical baseline structure.
  • Develop and maintain a tail number specific repair and alteration file.
  • Conduct all tasks in a safe and efficient manner complying with all local, state, and federal safety and health regulatory requirements, programmatic standards, and with any internal policies and procedures identified by Sun Country Airlines.
  • Any other duties assigned by management


Required Qualifications:



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience plus ten years of related experience
  • At least 5 years of previous airline experience
  • Proven engineering, computer, and technical knowledge experience
  • Excellent at articulating complex information to various audiences
  • Exceptional mathematical skills
  • Ability to apply principles of logic and scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems


Preferred Qualifications:



  • FAA Designated Engineering Representative (DER) designation
  • Previous structures engineering experience with 737 aircraft
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in a 121 or 135 airline engineering environment
  • Previous Damage Tolerance Evaluation/Analysis Experience


Compensation:

$125,000.00-140,000.00. This is the base compensation hiring range for this role.

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets.
