Genesis 10 is seeking a Mainframe Engineer for a nine-month or longer contract-to-hire position in Pittsburgh, PA. This position is a hybrid model with 4 days onsite. Compensation: $50.00/hr-$65.00/hr W2 depending on experience Summary and responsibilities: Modernize legacy mainframe systems (COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2) and enable integration with distributed platforms (Oracle, APIs). Lead efforts to automate high-risk, manual business workflows (like client account(s) onboarding/offboarding, account merges which are handled with manual tech intervention). Collaborate with India-based teams and navigate challenging stakeholders with clarity and assertiveness. Take full ownership of deliverables: identify gaps, raise flags early, and proactively push solutions through. Immerse yourself in the business side of cash sweeps; your success depends on learning it inside out. Think out of box and provide engineering solutions that is scalable and microservices based architecture rather than a monolithic architecture. Navigate complex mainframe application with little to no documentation and leverage modern utilities to tackle legacy codes Required skills: Mainframe Core: COBOL, JCL, VSAM, DB2, z/OS Distributed Exposure: Oracle DB, SQL, data sync/migration strategies Tools & Utilities: FILEAID, AbendAid, SPUFI, QMF, Changeman/Endeavor Automation Focus: Demonstrated ability to streamline batch/reporting/conversion jobs Process Insight: Experience with conversions, client onboarding, policy admin, reporting Soft Skills: Assertive communicator, collaborator across geos, ownership mindset Preferred skills: Experience in brokerage, mutual funds, or insurance (beneficial in understanding cash flows and client activities) Familiarity with API development, MQ Series, or integration patterns Knowledge of ad hoc reporting, SQL performance tuning, and batch job optimization Familiarity with scheduling utilities like CA7, Control-M If you have the described qualifications and are interested in this exciting opportunity, apply today!
