UVA Health is seeking a Pediatric Trauma Program Coordinator to help lead and support the expansion of our trauma designation to a Level I Pediatric Trauma Center. This is a vital leadership opportunity for a motivated RN with a strong background in pediatric trauma, specifically in the Emergency Department or PICU.
In this role, you will work collaboratively with trauma medical directors and hospital leadership to coordinate all aspects of the pediatric trauma program, including program development, case review, data collection/submission, and preparation for site visits. You will play a key role in ensuring quality patient care, adherence to trauma standards, and readiness for the upcoming pediatric Level I designation review within the next two years.
Preferred Qualifications:
- RN with 5+ years of experience in pediatric trauma, emergency, or critical care (PICU)
- Strong understanding of trauma systems and pediatric care standards
- Experience in program development, quality improvement, or case management preferred
- Management and/or administrative experience a plus
- Excellent communication, organizational, and data management skills

- Develops and establishes operational and strategic goals and objectives consistent with the ACS and VDH Pediatric Trauma designation standards and UVA Health - to include oversight of quality and performance improvement.
- Serves as a technical expert of the Pediatric Trauma Program - keeping abreast of current standard, requirements, and best practice for pediatric trauma.
- Maintains Pediatric Trauma Registries to include collecting, analyzing and trending data.
- Coordinates with the Pediatric Trauma Medical Director, leadership of the adult Trauma Program and UVA Health Children's, UVA Health administration, and clinicians to develop and maintain policies, procedures, and protocols related to the care of pediatric trauma patients
- Coordinates with Pediatric inpatient and ambulatory teams to ensure all designation requirements are met.
- Ensures all relevant providers are complaint with Pediatric Trauma guidelines
- Monitors the Pediatric and Adult Trauma Teams' availability and their compliance with relevant policies and standards
- Ensures all requirements for Pediatric Trauma designation are supported and implemented in the Emergency Department
- Participates in national and state Trauma/EMS committees and organizations
- Plans, coordinates, and evaluates Pediatric Trauma-related educational programs for faculty and staff
- Monitors faculty and staff compliance with the educational requirements of the Pediatric Trauma Program
- Organizes and supports a performance improve program for pediatric trauma in collaboration with the Pediatric Trauma Medical Director and Children's Quality Director
- Supports connection with EMS agencies within the region; supporting their need for education, performance improvement, and communicating any needs
- Maintains a close connection with the UVA Health Children's administration and Children's Quality teams to align effort between the Pediatric Trauma program and the broader care for pediatric populations
- Supports the needs of the trauma peer review committee as needed, representing Pediatric Trauma-specific interests and requirements
- Supports the needs of relevant morbidity and mortality reviews and committees as needed

Position Compensation Range: $76,398.40 - $122,241.60 Annual
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from accredited nursing program, Master's degree in related field within 5 years of hire. Experience: 3 years of progressively more responsible experience in a patient care environment (preferably trauma and/or emergency care) Licensure: License to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia required. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required. PHYSICAL DEMANDS This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers.
