Assists pharmacists and administrative staff in the provision of pharmaceutical care services. Responsible for participation in pharmacy operations, medication distribution, inventory control, and maintenance of personal technical competency. Additionally, provides exemplary customer service, contributes to the efficient operation and productivity of the Pharmacy Department, and displays the interest and motivation to achieve excellence in pharmacy practice in the institutional setting.

Work Schedule: Weekdays, may include occasional weekend shift(s); Full Time
Location: 115 Mill St, Belmont, MA
Education: High school graduate
License: MA Pharmacy Technician Registration required
Certification: Certified Pharmacy Technician preferred


Distribution Responsibility
  • Prepares pharmaceutical preparations in a quality manner under the direction of the pharmacist utilizing pharmacy software and hardware systems
  • Executes medication distribution
  • Receives and stocks pharmaceuticals
  • Prepares medications in unit dose packaging
  • Fills code carts and emergency kits
  • Ensures integrity and compliance of unit medication rooms as needed
  • Responds to requests from health care providers.
Inventory Responsibility
  • Ensures that drugs and supplies are available in the department and designated hospital care areas by maintaining appropriate inventories
  • Uses cost containment measures in ordering and maintaining pharmaceutical stock
  • Maintains inventory records as required by Pharmacy Department policy and law
  • Ensures availability of unit dose products
  • Appropriately disposes pharmaceutical waste
Operational Responsibility
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient and departmental information
  • Provides positive, supportive, and courteous communications to patients, families, visitors, and hospital personnel at all times
  • Commits to functioning as an essential employee.
  • Attends department meetings.
  • Documents maintenance of technical skills appropriate to pharmacy technician.
  • Successfully completes annual hospital required training
  • Keeps Registered Pharmacy Technician license current and maintains Certified Pharmacy Technician certification
