Under the long-range, administrative direction of the Executive Director of the Behavioral Health Workforce Center (BHWC), the Director of Behavioral Health Workforce Reporting and Analytics serves as a technical advisor and resource on behavioral health workforce analytics. The position is responsible for producing timely, data-driven insights and analyses that support the BHWC's mission to strengthen and expand the behavioral health workforce in Illinois. This role blends analytical rigor with clear, accessible communication, helping translate workforce data and policy trends into actionable recommendations for government, education, healthcare providers, and community partners.
This position will gather, analyze, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data related to behavioral health workforce needs, patient access, provider trends, and educational pathways. In addition, the position will conduct policy research, contribute to program evaluation efforts, and assist in preparing public-facing reports, briefs, and presentations to inform stakeholders and decision makers.
This position supports the Executive Director, program teams, and staff play a vital role in shaping evidence-informed strategies that promote access, equity, and sustainability in the behavioral health field.

Examples of Duties

Administration - 70% 1.Manage datasets from multiple sources related to the behavioral health workforce (e.g., statistics, trends, educational pathways, provider capacity, parity and reimbursement rates, service gaps.) 2.Analyze and identify trends, gaps, and opportunities within the behavioral health workforce. 3.Track and assess disparities by region, population, and professions to inform equity-focused strategies. 4.Develop reports and presentations to clearly communicate findings and results. Assist in the preparation of summaries, reports, fact sheets, data visualizations, and dashboards to support BHWC leadership and partners. 5.Provide insights and recommendations to guide decision makers with policy development and program implementation. 6.Determine when additional data is needed to enhance existing data, inform policy and programs, and measure the effectiveness of program work. 7.Prepare an evaluation plan for BHWC programs, including identifying key metrics and preparing an evaluation framework for the Center. 8.Monitor progress toward goals and report the outcomes. Assist with evaluating results and identifying data-driven improvements. 9.Assist the Executive Director with preparing program reports and other BHWC communications for funding partners, stakeholders, the General Assembly, and the public.
Service - 20% 1.Assist staff with research and data collection needs and activities. 2.Collaborate with staff to monitor progress toward goals and deliverables. 3.Provide technical assistance and training to staff and stakeholders on data analysis and interpretation. 4.Ensure data is presented in a manner that is accessible and understandable to a diverse group of users. 5.Participate in university and external committees and work groups as deemed appropriate to the functioning of this position.
Research - 10% 1.Research behavioral health workforce policies, initiatives, and best practices. 2.Research, monitor and summarize policy developments at the state and federal level.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications 1.Bachelor's degree in education, public health, psychology, social work, public administration, or a related field. 2.Three (3) or more years of relevant experience in data analysis, policy research, or evaluation in healthcare, behavioral health, education, or related field. 3.Strong quantitative evaluation and analytical skills necessary to translate data into meaningful insights. 4.Strong writing and communication skills, including experience producing policy briefs, reports, or technical summaries. 5.Proficiency in using workforce analytic tools and technical software platforms. 6.Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse teams.
Desirable Qualifications 1.Master's degree in education, public health, psychology, social work, public administration, statistics, or a related field. 2.Familiarity with program evaluation frameworks, evaluation, and reporting. 3.Experience working with workforce data and trends, healthcare systems, or behavioral health services. 4.Knowledge of behavioral health workforce initiatives and related policy issues.
