Chemical Operations Supervisor

Responsibilities

  • Provide supervision and direction to the operators.
  • Assist in coordinating shipments with customers and transportation companies.
  • Ensure that all work and shipments are conducted in compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Conducting periodic checks of all work areas and equipment to ensure that it is in good working condition.
  • Maintaining good communication with customers to best serve their needs.
  • Investigate and attempt to resolve all mechanical problems prior to contacting maintenance / electricians.
  • Preparation of all related paperwork.
  • Enforcing all company procedures and policies and initiating required disciplinary action.
  • To assist Engineering Department in all construction projects for the Miscellaneous Liquids Department.
  • Monitor inventory records.
  • Screen and forward all work orders.
  • Must maintain a working knowledge of all product pipelines, valves, tanks manifolds and jumpers.
  • Perform any other duties assigned by supervisor.
  • Must oversee the operators to ensure the safe and efficient movement and storage of hazardous substances into, out of and between tanks, barges, ships railcars and trucks without harm to the environment, facility, or personnel.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of one year experience as an Assistant Chemical Operations Supervisor.
  • Valid Driver's License
  • TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT's terminal locations.

Skills and Abilities

  • Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills in the English language.
  • Ability to understand written and verbal communication in the English language.
  • Ability to make decisions in a variable environment.
  • Ability to communicate with all other terminal departments.
  • Knowledge of basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and fractions).

Hours of Work

  • Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
  • This position requires overtime and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice

  • This job operates in an office environment as well as the outside environment.

  • Must be able to distinguish colors.
  • This would require the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, bend, stand, or stoop, as necessary.
  • Ability to perform climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling and moderate lifting.
  • Must be able to work in confined spaces, over water and not be afraid of heights.
  • Ability to wear and use a respirator.
