Amsoil is currently seeking an Application Engineer:

The Application Engineer will professionally represent AMSOIL in all facets related to the wind turbine market both internally, and externally, providing technical service and support, calling on and managing prospects, customers and other wind turbine professionals. The Application Engineer will be responsible for working directly with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to gain AMSOIL approvals and support AMSOIL industrial products. Technical expertise will be provided to support decision making within AMSOIL and directly to prospects and/or customers. Additional activities will include participation in Wind and Industrial associations to support our market position.

Examples of Work Performed / Essential Functions:



  • Responsible for working directly with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to gain AMSOIL approvals and support AMSOIL wind turbine products:



      • Understanding of Gearbox OEM requirements for approval and tracking to completion.
      • Understanding of Turbine OEM requirements for approval and tracking to completion.






  • Call on and make formal presentations to wind farm owners and operators, with an objective of selling AMSOIL wind turbine lubricants:







      • Technical presentation skills to answer customer concerns that will vary based on audience.
      • Understanding of lubrication and upselling other product offerings.







  • Providing technical expertise, support, advice and decision making within AMSOIL and directly to prospects and/or customers:







      • Failure analysis.
      • Warranty claim response.
      • Review of oil analysis.







  • Provide, maintain, and evaluate reports based on past and current competitive product literature and on competitors themselves:






      • Work to develop reports, testing, and presentations to off-set competitor's claims.
      • Provide insight and help develop marketing materials to differentiate AMSOIL from the competition.




  • Participate and lead in associations that can further our position and lead in the market place:



      • AWEA.
      • STLE.
      • AGMA.




  • Position will manage process or project with multiple departments both internally and externally.
  • Position will manage meeting schedule to maintain scope and bring projects in on-time and within budget.


Minimum Qualifications:

Education and Experience:



  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field required.
  • Five to ten years of relevant experience required.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.


Certificates/Licenses Required:



  • Valid Driver's License.
  • Expectation is to become CLS certified.


Knowledge, skills and Abilities Required:



  • Superior mechanical knowledge for industrial and wind turbine applications.
  • Experience in a decision making role or strong decision making skills.
  • Familiarity with failure analysis.
  • Willing and able to travel up to 50% of the time, nationally and internationally.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed and able to successfully work independently without supervision.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, courteously and professionally with others in person and over the telephone.
  • Knowledge of grammar and spelling to generate written communication and to interact with the public.
  • Strong public relations and customer service skills to deal with the public, resolve problems, effectively manage difficult situations.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, co-workers, other staff, and members of the public.
  • Skill and ability to operate and troubleshoot office machines, including computerized equipment.
  • Strong skills in operating a computer with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other office specific.


Preferred Knowledge Skills and Abilities:



  • Previous Wind experience.
  • Society of Tribologists and Lubrication Engineers membership.
  • Willingness and ability to climb wind turbines.
  • Knowledge of all aspects of wind power componentry/operation and lubrication products.
