Position Summary

Under the general direction of the Vice President of Instruction, the Dean of the Davis and West Sacramento Centers will be responsible for performing duties in the administration and supervision of the Davis and West Sacramento Centers, which include establishing the overall direction, development, and growth of the Centers.


Typical Duties

Typical duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing general supervision of the affairs of the Davis and West Sacramento Centers.
  • Coordinating the courses and curriculum to be offered at the Centers.
  • Developing partnerships with secondary and post-secondary educational institutions to increase student access and transfer opportunities.
  • Recommending budget allocations and administering the adopted budget.
  • Managing the Centers' day, evening, weekend, and summer offerings, and working with Los Rios Community College District (LRCCD) and college staff in all areas of responsibility.
  • Operating and growing the Davis and West Sacramento Centers' instructional programs through effective leadership, strategic planning, and community partnerships.
  • Coordinating with student services personnel to meet student support needs for the Centers, including registration, counseling, financial aid, and enrollment processes.
  • Scheduling classes for the Centers with an emphasis on pathways and achieving student equity.
  • Collaborating with division deans and other college administrators on course and program offerings for the Centers.
  • Developing strong working relationships with UC Davis, school districts in Davis and West Sacramento, the cities of Davis and West Sacramento, and other public and private organizations.
  • Collecting data and developing reports as they apply to the enrollments, student records, and budgets of the Centers.
  • Participating in the evaluation process for the Center's faculty.
  • Coordinating with the main campus and LRCCD operations staff regarding facilities maintenance and security management.
  • Hiring, supervising, and evaluating classified staff at the Centers.
  • Coordinating student support services, instructional services, and professional development opportunities between the main campus and the Centers.
  • Providing communication to main campus support services, such as instructional media, assessment, telecommunication, counseling service, and other services as needed.
  • Coordinating and balancing on-site presence as needed between the two Centers.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Have a master's degree from an accredited institution.
  2. Have one year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator's administrative assignment.
  3. Have an equity-minded focus, responsiveness, and sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical or learning disabilities as it relates to differences in learning styles; and successfully foster and support an inclusive educational and employment environment.

Applicant must meet the minimum qualifications of a faculty discipline at the college.
