About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and hands-on Senior Refrigeration Systems Engineer to lead the design, development, and validation of next-generation refrigeration and dehumidification systems. This hybrid role bridges theoretical design with practical lab execution, ensuring our products meet the highest standards of performance, efficiency, and compliance. The ideal candidate will possess deep technical expertise in refrigeration system design and a strong aptitude for experimental validation in a lab environment.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the development and execution of comprehensive lab test programs for refrigeration and heat pump systems.
  • Translate design concepts and improvements into functional prototypes and test setups, ensuring alignment with theoretical models.
  • Establish and maintain lab infrastructure, including test rigs, instrumentation, data acquisition systems, and safety protocols.
  • Design and implement test plans, procedures and experiments to evaluate system performance, efficiency, and reliability under various operating conditions.
  • Analyze & compare test data to simulations to identify trends, root causes of deviations, and opportunities for design improvement.
  • Maintain detailed test records and data summaries for internal use, certification and design feedback.
  • Drive product certifications, field issue replication, and factory end-of-line testing through lab experimentation.
  • Support the design and optimization of refrigeration systems including heat pumps, air conditioners, and dehumidifiers.
  • Contribute to the selection appropriate refrigeration components (based on performance, cost, and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct simulations and performance analyses using engineering software tools.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams to provide quantitative guidance on design, manufacturing, quality and installation of refrigeration systems based on empirical test results, providing actionable input on system configurations, component selections, and control strategies.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • 7-10+ years of experience in refrigeration system design and/or lab testing.
  • EPA Section 608 certification
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE and AHRI certification and testing standard is preferred
  • Proven experience establishing and managing lab infrastructure and test environments.
  • Solid understanding of refrigeration cycle fundamentals, system dynamics, and thermodynamic performance.
  • Strong knowledge of thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, and refrigeration principles.
  • Familiarity with refrigeration components and design tools, with the ability to interpret system-level design and translate it to lab application.
  • Proficiency in simulation and data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, MATLAB, LabVIEW, etc.).
  • Hands-on experience with lab instrumentation, sensors, and automated test environments.
  • Strong hands-on mechanical skills and a detail-oriented mindset for testing and troubleshooting complex systems.
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
