Position Description

Develop instructional materials and products and assist in the technology-based redesign of courses. Assist faculty in learning about, becoming proficient in, and applying instructional technology.

About the Department and/or College

TTU K-12, a unit of the Texas Tech University Online division, is a state approved online kindergarten through 12th-grade school that has been meeting students' needs for more than 25 years. Affiliated with Texas Tech University, a Carnegie tier one research institution, TTU K-12 boasts a rigorous curriculum that allows students to work ahead, make up failed credits, and achieve their goals from wherever they are.

Texas Tech University K-12 is a Candidate for Accreditation with NCA CASI, NWAC, and SACS CASI.

TTU K-12 began in 1993 as a "Special Purpose District" designed to help students whose educational needs were not adequately met by traditional school districts. Since then, we have grown to serve students across the country and more than 70 nations around the world.

Major/Essential Functions


  • Review and analyze educational materials submitted for instructional design development and communicate any questions or issues in a timely manner. Such reviews will include but are not limited to: noting needed video or graphics development, potential WCAG (accessibility) issues, and copyright compliance.
  • Assist project stakeholders in addressing instructional design needs and visualizing the final product. This may include but is not limited to troubleshooting or problem-solving both design and technology issues, using data when available to support changes.
  • Create quality online and distance coursework with attention to detail, including adherence to instructional design principles, WCAG (accessibility) requirements, copyright compliance, and internal style guides.
  • Learn and leverage current and newly adopted tools for course delivery.
  • Document progress on projects, which can include sending emails, recording time-on-task, creating and updating checklists, updating spreadsheets, and other communication. Documentation should show organization, but also an awareness of what issues need to be tracked for others, gathering data that will help us estimate how long projects might take, and so on.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree plus one year of related experience; or a combination of education and/or related experience to equal 5 years.

Preferred Qualifications


  • Masters degree in Educational Technology, Instructional Design, Online Learning, Higher Education, Curriculum and Instruction or related field.
  • Knowledge of the Blackboard Learning Management System.
