We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Global External Communications Specialist to support Aon's Global Media Relations team. This role is ideal for a strong communicator with a passion for storytelling, media engagement and digital content. The specialist will play a key role in drafting external communications, managing editorial calendars, and supporting media monitoring and analytics.

Aon's Global External Communications Specialist will play a pivotal role in amplifying Aon's voice across global platforms by ensuring the seamless execution of media strategies and content delivery. By supporting the Global External Communications team with day-to-day operations, this role will help maintain the rhythm and responsiveness of Aon's external communications. Your contributions will range from drafting press releases and social media posts to managing content calendars, which will ensure that Aon's messaging is timely, consistent and aligned with strategic priorities. Your collaboration with internal stakeholders will help streamline content development and approval processes, ultimately strengthening Aon's global media presence and reputation. Through your proactive, detail-oriented and communicative approach, you'll be instrumental in driving the team's efficiency and impact.

What the day will look like

  • Provide day-to-day support to the Global External Communications team, including drafting content and project management.
  • Draft and edit external-facing materials such as press releases, social media posts and blog content for the firm's newsroom.
  • Maintain and update content calendars for global social media channels, blog posts and press releases to ensure timely and coordinated messaging.
  • Assist in the use and maintenance of media monitoring tools (e.g., Meltwater, Cision) to track coverage, compile reports and analyze media trends.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather content, approvals and feedback for media materials.
  • Monitor company news through email alerts and trade publications.
  • Monitor industry news and competitor activity to inform media strategy and content development.
  • Actively use AI tools in communications activities to enhance efficiency, creativity, and strategic impact.
  • Collaborate with marketing and internal communication colleagues to support the Aon United strategy, promoting the Aon story and assisting partners in delivering their goals.
  • Support other global communication channels and platforms, including podcasts and other audio/video formats

Skills and experience that will lead to success

Experience/Credentials:

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in a communications, PR or media coordination role.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with a strong command of grammar and AP style.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and content management systems is a plus.
  • Innovative and strategic in using AI tools for communications.
  • Experience with global communication channels and platforms, including podcasts and other audio/video formats.

Pay Transparency Laws

The salary range for this position (intended for U.S. applicants) is $78,000 - $85,000 annually. The actual salary will vary based on applicant's education, experience, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. The salary may also be adjusted based on applicant's geographic location.

The salary range reflected is based on a primary work location of Chicago, Illinois. The actual salary may vary for applicants in a different geographic location.

This position is eligible to participate in one of Aon's annual incentive plans to receive an annual discretionary bonus in addition to base salary. The amount of any bonus varies and is subject to the terms and conditions of the applicable incentive plan.
