As we execute one of the most significant transformation programs in our history, we are seeking an Infrastructure Architect to join our Enterprise Architecture group.
This critical role is accountable for overseeing our infrastructure landscape to deliver measurable business outcomes aligned with CMC's strategic priorities: investing in our people, achieving excellence in all we do, and driving growth. Reporting to the Director, Enterprise Architecture, this position will be responsible for designing, architecting, and managing the organization's IT infrastructure to ensure it meets current and future business requirements. This role requires a deep understanding of technology stack, best practices, and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.

What You'll Do
  • Develop and maintain the overall infrastructure architecture, including servers, storage, networks, and cloud services.
  • Ensure that the architecture is scalable, secure, cost-effective and aligned with business objectives
  • Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions that improve system performance and efficiency.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends and incorporate best practices into the infrastructure design.
  • Guide the implementation of infrastructure projects, including hardware and software installations, upgrades, and migrations. Ensure that all projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Partner with other teams on completing these implementations
  • Work closely with IT teams, business analysts, and other stakeholders to understand infrastructure needs and ensure seamless integration with existing systems.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure designs, configurations, and processes. Ensure that all documentation is up-to-date and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure that the infrastructure is secure and compliant with industry standards and regulations. Implement security measures such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption.
  • Monitor the performance of the IT infrastructure and make recommendations for improvements. Implement performance tuning and optimization strategies to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Ensure infrastructure solutions comply with security and regulatory requirements.
  • Partner with IT Security and the CISO to ensure Infrastructure Architecture meets current and future security concerns.
  • Compare our architecture to established industry frameworks and make recommendations for alignment.
What You'll Need
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in infrastructure architecture and design.
  • Strong knowledge of server, storage, network, and cloud technologies.
  • Experience with virtualization technologies such as VMware or Hyper-V.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
  • Proficiency in networking, virtualization, and storage solutions.
  • Experience with infrastructure as code (IaC) tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Familiarity in integration technologies such as RESTful APIs, SOAP, ESB, and middleware platforms (e.g., PI/PO, MuleSoft, Dell Boomi, Apache Camel).
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Relevant certifications such as TOGAF, CISSP, CCNA, or AWS/Azure Certified Solutions Architect are a plus
  • Experience in Agile or DevOps methodologies.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based development platforms and services.
  • Industry experience in metals, manufacturing, or a similar sector.
Your Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
