This position involves the establishment and supervision of processes (e.g., performance improvement, clinical documentation, etc.) to achieve the optimal degree of excellence in the services rendered to every patient in the Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program (BMT). Evaluation of practice operates within the parameters of providing the framework for quality patient care and patient outcomes. Provides for internal strategic planning efforts and implementing continuous quality improvement programs. #CA-LA

As a recognized quality data analysis and / or improvement (QI) professional, applies comprehensive knowledge of professional concepts and industry practices to lead complex Malignant Hematology Cellular Therapies and Transplant projects of large size and scope that have critical impact throughout the organization.
Under general supervision of the Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapies Quality Nurse Manager and guided by the policies and procedures of the Medical Center inclusive of both Ambulatory Services and inpatient Medical Surgical Acute Care, and the BMT/Cellular Therapies Medical Director, the Quality Specialist will plan, organize, direct, implement, and evaluate the quality management plan of the Stem Cell Transplant and Cellular Therapy program. The incumbent will work closely with providers, nursing managers (both inpatient and outpatient), collections (both apheresis and marrow), stem cell processing, and BMT/Cellular Therapy support staff, to achieve the highest quality and best possible outcomes for the patient population in a cost-effective manner and in compliance with all regulatory agencies. As needed, the incumbent will generate recommendations to address deficiencies in compliance with applicable regulations. Key areas of responsibility include: 1) assuring compliance with regulatory and patient safety goals and standards, 2) oversight and implementation of all Pediatric and Clinical Trial BMT/Cellular Therapy related policies, procedures, and controlled documents to maintain excellence in care and maintenance of FACT accreditation, 3) oversight of compiling and reporting of BMT/IEC data, 4) assuring required licensure, registrations, and agreements are current, and 5) leading performance improvement initiatives as they relate to Pediatric and Clinical Trial BMT/Cellular Therapy quality. - At least three (3) years of RN experience.
- At least three (3) years working in the healthcare environment.
- Valid California Registered Nurse License without restriction.
- Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
- Well versed in QA/QI standards, clinical chart review and abstraction, and regulatory requirements.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to lead a team, prioritize tasks, and see projects through from inception to completion on schedule.
- Advanced interpersonal skills for collaborating effectively with all levels of clinical and technical staff and representatives of external regulatory agencies.
- Skilled in the use of various administrative and business software packages, and knowledge of specialized applications for quality data management.
- Advanced critical thinking and problem solving skills to manage multiple levels of highly-complex information and responsibilities, to quickly assess problems, and to develop and implement timely and effective solutions.
- Must demonstrate ability in assessment, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care, taking into consideration protective interventions, development (behavioral and physical) and physiological characteristics specific to the patients

- Blood & Marrow Transplant Certified Nurse (BMTCN)
- Master's Degree in Nursing.
- Experience in Oncology/BMT.
