Journalism Enhancing Programs

Job Description

The Senior Marketing Strategist accurately and effectively communicates IRE's mission to journalists, potential funders and the general public. This person combines marketing and journalism knowledge to leverage IRE's social media platforms, website and newsletters to reach key stakeholders. The Senior Marketing Strategist also is responsible for overseeing IRE's fellowship programs. This key staff member works with a small, collaborative team that values creativity, teamwork and transparency.

Key Responsibilities:
-Developing and executing marketing campaigns for various IRE initiatives, including promoting member drives, fundraising, training events, data and research services, scholarships and awards; includes designing graphics and proofreading copy to ensure IRE brand and identity remain consistent across all marketing platforms
-Managing fellowship programs, including staying up to date with each program, creating and managing applications, including setting deadlines and promoting programs, ensuring applicants meet eligibility requirements, coordinating selection process with review committees, working with appropriate staff to ensure proper onboarding of fellowship recipients
-Managing IRE's online presence across social media platforms, including LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, X, Bluesky
-Creating and managing IRE's biweekly newsletter "Quick Hits" plus writing and posting blog posts as needed
-Various admin tasks as assigned, including updating job board and assisting at conferences

Shift

M-F; 40 hours per week; some nights, weekends and holidays

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications

A master's degree and social media experience preferred

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range:$55,000 - $65,000/year

Grade: GGS-010
