Posting Summary
Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Associate II within the Rutgers Cancer Institute-Epidemiology and Health Outcomes Department.
Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the Research Associate II will conduct advanced epidemiologic and health outcomes research as part of the Precision Prevention of Prostate Cancer (Pre CAP) laboratory.

Founded in 2022, the Pre CAP lab is a nationally recognized research center dedicated to addressing prostate cancer disparities through geospatial analysis, environmental epidemiology, and health services research. The lab has produced over 49 peer-reviewed publications in esteemed journals such as JAMA Network Open, Environmental Research, and the American Journal of Epidemiology.

Among the key duties for this position are the following:

  • Conducts epidemiologic studies to evaluate environmental exposures and health outcomes related to prostate and other cancers.
  • Analyzes associations between access to care, such as treatment adherence, transportation barriers, and provider availability with cancer outcomes.
  • Performs exploratory and advanced statistical analyses, including data quality assessments and missing data pattern evaluation, time series analysis, multivariable regression, predictive modeling, Inverse Probability of Treatment Weighting, Difference-in-Difference analysis, and propensity score matching.
  • Drafts sections of research grants/manuscripts and contribute to publications as co-author or lead author, depending on involvement.
  • Assists with the coordination and training of junior research staff including data analysts and graduate students.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • PhD or equivalent in epidemiology, public health, biostatistics, or a related field, or a Master's Degree plus 3 years of research experience in health outcomes or epidemiologic studies or similar work.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated expertise in statistical software (e.g., R, SAS, and/or Stata).
  • Computer literate (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint).
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills, evidenced by published writing, oral presentations at academic or other conferences.
  • Coauthored or first author publications.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with large administrative databases or population-based cohorts.
  • Experience with GIS tools and spatial analysis (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS, R, or equivalent).
  • Prior research in cancer epidemiology, environmental exposures, or health services and outcomes research.
