Summary
This role will be a critical member of the leadership team of the Institute, working on the development and execution of an integrated neuroscience program across the system. In doing so, the EA will work with the EA of Neurology, MGB Chairs of Neurology and Neurosurgery, the Institute Executive Director, and Institute Chief Administrator to develop and execute a plan to horizontally integrate most activities and structures that are presently distinct across the institutions. Does this position require Patient Care? No Essential Functions -Management and improvement of patient-centered, high-quality, high-functioning clinical practice. Development and coordination of care provision across sites and services across AMCs. -Implementation of quality, safety, workflow, staffing, and other initiatives focused on improving patient experience. Implementation of workflow, system changes, and other enhancements to optimize the use of Epic. -Develops, implements, and approves policies, procedures and systems and revises as necessary with Chair to maximize efficiency and support cost containment. Leads department to facilitate the coordinated operations of a cohesive Institute and plays an instrumental role in integrating these operations with community department leadership across all MGB hospitals and community practices. -Develops and maintains an appropriate management structure to accomplish all the goals of the department. Organizes leadership team efficiently across AMCs to create lean operations. -Participates in the negotiation, management, and development of various equipment contracts/professional services agreements related to the department. Assures that inventories of equipment and supplies are adequate and appropriately maintained. -Works with Chair and CA to develop provider volume analysis projections and prepare offer/acceptance letters for recruitment and retention of professional staff. Oversees execution of associated appointment, visa, group-practice and third-party credentialing and enrollment applications and maintains appropriate copies of these materials in an organized fashion within the Department. -Develops and implements quality programs, in partnership with the Vice Chair of Quality, ACMO and Chair. Responsible for clinical reviews of quality indicators. -Works with the Chair, Institute Executive Director, and CA regarding strategic research planning and growth in the context of research space management, advances in technology, science, and the funding environment in collaboration with AMC leadership. -Develops and monitors the annual operating and capital budgets for all BWPO/MGPO, BWH/MGH, and research funds within the Department. Monitors each cost center and fund and closely tracks operational performance and capital spending. Presents monthly Department financial performance information to the Chair, CA, senior staff and others as appropriate. -Establishes and maintains a financial management system to allow accurate and detailed reporting of financial status and staffing distribution of operating accounts and research/sundry funds.
