The Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL) has been developing innovative technologies and solutions for cutting-edge DoD, intelligence, and NASA partners for over six decades. SDL's internship program provides an exciting opportunity for undergraduate and graduate students to get involved with state-of-the art technologies in space-, airborne-, and ground-based systems. With the support of engineers and mentors, the intern will work on a professional-level research assignment that will complement their academic studies.

The C4ISR Division is looking for an exceptional undergraduate or graduate student to explore new and novel approaches in cyber deception. The intern will be tasked with varying duties to aid in the research, development, and documentation of a cyber deception strategy. The ideal candidate will have experience with cybersecurity principles, software engineering (C++, Python, JavaScript, etc.), networking, log analysis and an interest in advancing research in cybersecurity.

Internship Timeframe and Duration: Jan - April 2026
Location: On-site in North Logan, Utah

Potential Duties:

  • Researching methods of cyber deception
  • Creating proof of concepts
  • Documenting findings
  • Developing defensive tactics, techniques, and procedures

Requirements:
  • Proficient in at least one programming language
  • Exposure to Git and software management
  • Experience with the Linux command line
  • Understanding of cyber threats
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to work on a team
  • Ability to track and prioritize duties
  • Must be a Junior, Senior, or Graduate student
  • Must be a US citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a US Government Security Clearance


Desired Qualifications:
  • Experience with Kubernetes and Docker
  • Experience in system modeling or threat modeling
  • Experience with MITRE ATT&CK
  • Cybersecurity Certification (Sec+, CEH, etc.)
