Senior Equipment Engineer

Senior Equipment Engineer for a Direct Hire position in Charlotte, NC.
Role Overview:

Responsible for specifying, designing, troubleshooting, and improving proprietary mechanical equipment used in Direct Reduced Iron (DRI) plants. Acts as a technical lead on projects, coordinating design efforts and ensuring compliance with engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead equipment design and analysis using mechanical engineering principles.
• Coordinate and review work of engineers and designers.
• Develop specifications, review vendor documents, and support procurement.
• Provide technical support during fabrication, commissioning, and plant operations.
• Mentor junior staff and contribute to innovation and continuous improvement.
• Travel domestically and internationally for inspections, training, and project support.

$138,000 all depends on experience Requirements:

• Strong mechanical engineering background with knowledge of ASME codes, materials, welding, and fabrication.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Autodesk tools.
• Experience with industrial equipment, especially scrubbers and coolers.
• Excellent communication, technical writing, and project coordination skills.
• Willingness to travel (10-30%).

Preferred Skills:

• Simulation tools (FEA, CFD, etc.)
• Experience in piping, stress analysis, and NDE.
• Background in the steel or DRI industry.

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's in Mechanical or related Engineering discipline.
• 10+ years in industrial or technical environments, preferably in steel or DRI.
