Engineering Technician IV Access Control:

Engineering Technician IV. The Engineering Technician IV performs non-routine assignments of substantial variety and complexities, using operational precedents that are not fully applicable, such assignments that are typically parts of broader assignments, are screened to eliminate unusual design problems. Technicians at this level perform one or a combination of duties listed under Engineering Technician III without direct supervision. This technician receives technical advice from supervisor or engineer. Work is reviewed for technical adequacy (or conformity with instructions). This position may be assisted by lower level technicians and have frequent contact with professionals and others within the establishment, and performs one or a combination of such typical duties as:

Independently creates project schedules. Ensures deadlines and budgets are met.

Prepares designs and specifications for various complex equipment or systems (i.e. Access control system in an office building, or new electronic components such as solid state devices for instrumentation equipment).

Plans the approach to solve design problems; conceives and recommends new design techniques; resolves design problems with contract personnel, and assures compatibility of design with other parts of the system.

Installs or repairs a variety of electrical equipment such as transformers, switchboards, controllers, circuit breakers, motors, heating units, transmission equipment, and Access Control System components. All electrical work shall be performed in accordance with

RQ OI 32-1, and be subject to the inspection and approval of the local RQ AHJ.

Interprets and understands blueprints, drawings, layouts, or other specifications; locating and diagnosing trouble in the electrical system or equipment; working standard computations relating to load requirements of wiring or electrical equipment; and is able to use a variety of electrician's hand tools and measuring and testing instruments.

Designs and coordinates test set-ups and experiments to prove or disprove the feasibility of preliminary design; uses untried and untested measurement techniques when the situation dictates; and improves the performance of equipment where applicable.

Work with Microsoft Excel software; CCure 9000 Software and other gov't managed information systems. Numerous accounts regarding building items need to be tracked and identified (old and new items) per current regulations. Accounts must be accurate so person must be able to check one's work for spelling, format, and overall correctness.

Informs COR of any required outages/or problems as foreseen relating to Real Property, Laboratory equipment, Utilities, and or the Facilities.

Assisting in design modification by compiling data related to design, specifications, and materials that are pertinent to specific items of equipment or component parts; developing information concerning previous operational failures and modifications, and using

judgment and initiative to recognize inconsistencies or gaps in data and seek sources to clarify information.

Demolition of concrete walls, construction of walls either stud or block, and installation of doors, windows, etc. The contractor representative must work with FSA in design of requirements. Must have a working knowledge of all aspects of other skilled trades involved and shall be responsible toward integrating the trades toward an acceptable completion of each approved project. Contractor shall be responsible for integrating other external/internal support organizations that will be affected or have a role in the demolition/construction phases.

Requirements

  • Due to Federal Contracting requirements, applicant must be a U.S. citizen.
  • At least 2 years expertise/experience of performing security access control and or electrical/mechanical troubleshooting
  • High School Diploma
  • Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance
