Job Description:

BHMG - Frankfort - Radiology

CT Tech PRN

Responsibility and Essential Duties:

  • Assists Radiologists and management with establishing protocols.

  • Produce quality images for Radiologist's review.

  • Sends images to tele-radiology service after hours as instructed.

  • Assist Radiologist and authorized providers with exams/procedures as necessary. Proactively plans and executes daily patient flow and staff schedule.

  • Must be able to complete warm up and quality control on equipment (i.e. room checks, contract reactions/infiltrates as required).

  • Verifies orders, verifies patient name/birth date and history.

  • Performs and documents peripheral venipuncture when necessary for exams. * Documents patient care in the electronic health record (i.e. incident reports, medications given, contrast reactions, infiltrates, etc.).

  • Continuously monitors the patient throughout the procedure.

  • Uses radiation protection for patient and self.

  • Utilize ALARA (As Low As Reasonably Achievable) for all exams.

  • Performs and documents time out procedure for invasive procedures.

  • Provides post processing for exams per department protocol.

  • Prepares copy of images and records image release in electronic health records. Verifies images archived to PACS and notifies PACS administration of any issues. Participates in image peer review with CT Coordinator.

  • Orders and/or restocks supplies and linens.

  • Report all equipment malfunction to the proper personnel.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Satisfactory completion of an accredited education program in radiologic technology.

  • Current American Registry Radiologic Technology (ARRT) Registry

  • Current license with the Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy

  • Advanced ARRT Registry in Computed Tomography required within one (1) year of hire.

  • BLS certification for healthcare providers recognized by the American Heart Association.
