Position Title: HVAC/Utilities Engineer Location/Site: North Chicago, IL 60064 Duration: 09 Months Top 3-5 Skills Needed: Mechanical engineering experience with utilities (Chilled water/steam distribution and HVAC field devices) Construction Management Responsibilities: The HVAC/Utilities engineer will play a hands-on role in troubleshooting, and upgrading HVAC and utility systems within a facility. This position is split between troubleshooting existing systems and supporting facility infrastructure upgrades and capital projects. Key responsibilities include: Diagnosing and resolving issues with HVAC control systems, alarms, and utilities. Hands-on troubleshooting of pneumatic actuators, steam systems, and HVAC alarms to ensure operational reliability. Responding to system failures and implementing corrective actions to minimize downtime. Supporting HVAC control unit and steam system upgrades, ensuring proper installation and integration. Assisting with facility infrastructure improvements, including utilities and HVAC system upgrades. Collaborating with project teams to enhance system performance and reliability. Providing technical support for control system modifications and commissioning activities. Working directly in the field to troubleshoot and resolve control system issues (not just reviewing drawings). Ensuring compliance with industry standards and facility safety regulations. Documenting troubleshooting processes, system upgrades, and modifications for future reference. Qualifications: Strong technical expertise in HVAC utilities, control units, and steam system upgrades. Experience troubleshooting and maintaining HVAC alarms and automation components. Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and control system sequences. Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to system optimization. Effective communication skills to collaborate with engineering teams, technicians, and facility staff.
