SLSCO, LP is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented candidate to manage project claims activities on a large, complex public-sector project in New York City. This role requires demonstrated experience in handling both subcontractor and owner claims in alignment with contract documents, while ensuring compliance with MWBE goals, NYC procurement requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the full lifecycle of subcontractor and owner claims, including identification, development, analysis, and resolution.
- Interpret and apply contract provisions in support of timely and defensible claims submissions.
- Collaborate with project controls, legal, estimating, and operations teams to analyze cost impacts, schedule delays, and entitlement justifications.
- Draft, review, and maintain claim documentation, including notices of delay, change orders, impact logs, and negotiation records.
- Ensure all claims activities comply with MWBE goals.
- Provide strategic input during contract reviews to mitigate potential claims exposure.
- Participate in dispute resolution proceedings (mediation, arbitration, negotiation).
- Maintain a comprehensive claims log and reporting system for internal and external audits.
- Assist in training project staff on claims best practices and compliance standards.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
- 5-8 years of progressive experience in claims management within the design-build or construction industry, preferably on NYC public-sector projects.
- Strong working knowledge of design build and construction contract documents and public agency procedures.
- Demonstrated experience managing both subcontractor and owner claims.
- Proven understanding of NYC MWBE programs, procurement compliance standards.
- Willingness to work 5 days, onsite, in our Downtown NYC office
Preferred Skills and Tools
- Proficiency in Primavera P6, ACC, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Solid understanding of scheduling techniques and forensic delay analysis.
- Excellent negotiation, writing, and presentation skills.
- High attention to detail, with the ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines.
- Familiarity with NYC agencies such as DDC, MTA, or HPD is a plus.
