Construction Manager - Position and Responsibilities

As an Onsite Construction Manager (CM) with Middough, you will oversee total construction efforts on small to medium client project (up to $10MM TIC) to ensure the project is constructed in accordance with the client's design, budget, schedule, and safety parameters. The CM will work with the client's Construction Management department to ensure all project and safety standards are followed. Three of our clients have CM positions available (Robinson, IL, Kankakee, IL or Milwaukee, WI) that require working on-site for an anticipate project duration of 6 - 12 months. Based on candidate location and the client location per diem may be available. The CM interfaces with the client, A/E, union, subcontractor, security, and safety representatives to plan, coordinate and/or supervise field personnel activities on the assigned project. The CM will implement policy, manage daily operations, and develop/build/train required technology capabilities and related tools.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Develop and manage the construction schedule for all contractors assigned to a project.
  • Coordinate day-to-day construction site activities.
  • Supervise the work of contractors onsite and ensure that all construction follows design specifications, is completed on schedule, adheres to budget, and is built to quality standards.
  • Ensure all safety requirements for Middough, client organization, and local/State/Federal authorities are met.
  • Communicate regularly with client, Middough staff, and other consulting organizations to provide status updates.



Education, Experience and Skills

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • 10+ year of experience in site construction management.
  • Previous experience managing food, agro-industrial, or chemical projects required.
  • Working knowledge of construction means, methods, and standards.
  • Multiple years of project management experience.
  • OSHA Safety Certification is preferred.
  • Experience with and general knowledge of contract and liability issues.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Ability to establish and maintain relationships with clients, all levels within Middough, and subcontractors at client site around professionalism, trust, integrity, and collaboration.
  • Ability to multi-task and be highly organized for effective project management.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong written communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.

  • May be exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as climbing ladders and/or stairs, extreme heat and/or cold, and/or poor air quality) if or when on-site at a client facility. Noise levels may be moderate to high at various client sites, hearing protection may be required and/or provided. Safety protections provided by the client and/or company are required to be used and followed.
  • May require occasional car or air travel to other company locations or client sites.
  • This position requires the candidate/employee to possess and maintain a valid driver's license in their state of residence and auto insurance coverage.



While performing duties of this position, the successful candidate may:

  • Be required to work overtime hours based on workload which may include weekdays, weekends and/or holidays.
  • Require occasional overnight travel to another client location/facility or the home office.
  • Work in client conditions that may vary at each location, but the conditions listed above will generally apply.
  • When working outside Middough's office, require appropriate safety training and safety equipment which would be provided by Middough and/or Client, as required.
