Overview

The Systems Engineer is responsible for building, maintaining, securing, and supporting servers, applications, and infrastructure within 24/7 high-performance, highly secure data centers serving a globally distributed customer base. Reporting to IT Management, this role encompasses a broad range of technologies, including both virtual and physical Microsoft Windows and Linux servers, VMware technologies, and public cloud platforms such as AWS and Azure.


Responsibilities

    Assist in deployment, configuration, and management of VMware infrastructure including vSphere, vCenter, and VCF (Automation and Operations).
  • Install, configure, and upgrade ESXi hypervisor nodes.
  • Launch, patch, and manage virtual and physical servers running MS Windows and Linux.
  • Create and maintain VM templates.
  • Perform SAN/NAS and Fiber Channel provisioning, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
  • Demonstrate experience with storage (HW/SW RAID, RAID levels, rebuild, and recovery).
  • Update firmware and drivers on physical HPE nodes.
  • Ensure all internal, production, and demo systems are secure (hardened), monitored, backed up, patched, and running efficiently.
  • Work with internal development and engineering teams on application optimization and troubleshooting.
  • Refine and optimize monitoring and alerting systems to ensure peak performance, uptime, available capacity, and proper notification.
  • Plan and implement major infrastructure and application systems installations.
  • Assure proper backup and recovery policies and procedures are in place and recommend or make changes as necessary.
  • Recommend, implement, and routinely test disaster recovery plans.
  • Work on backup systems to ensure there are no issues and verify the integrity of immutable backups.
  • Regularly update change management systems with strict change documentation.
  • Possess sound knowledge and working experience with ticketing/tracking systems.
  • Respond to outages during business and after-hours and participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
  • Demonstrate strong troubleshooting skills and experience managing complex systems.
  • Be able to lift 50+ lbs to mount servers and storage into cabinets.
  • Communicate effectively with both senior and junior team members regarding issues and troubleshooting.

  • Must be able to provide a dedicated, secure work area.

Base compensation ranges from is $82,000 to $104,000 per year. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, education, skills, certifications, and other business needs.
