This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

We are seeking a skilled Machinist to join our Structural Component Production team on Florida's Space Coast at our Orbital Launch Site Manufacturing Complex. In this role, you will play a crucial part in processing and programming structural components that support the assembly of flight hardware for various spaceflight systems.

Position Specific Details:

**Shift: Monday - Thursday (6:00am - 4:30pm), Location: Space Coast, Fl, Relocation: Available**

Key Responsibilities:

  • Setup and operate CNC controlled machines, including multi-axis lathes and mills, to produce precision parts from metals, plastics, and composites.
  • Program and set up Agie Charmilles wire and sinking EDM machines, ensuring compliance with engineering specifications.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, GD&T, and work instructions to meet tolerance requirements.
  • Assist in the setup of new production work areas, including layouts, tooling, and equipment configuration.
  • Utilize multi-axis machining, turning, and grinding centers on various products.
  • Collaborate with leadership to prioritize work based on production schedules and organizational objectives.
  • Work with engineering teams to document and standardize production processes.
  • Facilitate the transition from development to production by collaborating closely with engineering.
  • Identify and execute continuous improvement projects to enhance area safety and efficiency.
  • Perform second-party verification of manufactured hardware and assist in the transition from development to production.

Team Focus & Domain Expertise:

The Machine shop team is a very assorted group of Machinists, NC Programmers and Technicians who setup, operate and maintain world class, state of the art CNC machines to fabricate components for various spaceflight systems. We are responsible for setting up and operating a variety of CNC machines and equipment to produce accurate components enabling first article success on tight tolerance, high value parts.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 20 years of hands-on manufacturing experience.
  • Minimum 15 years in CNC programming with Siemens NX - or other equivalent commercially available CNC programming software with full 5 axis capability, mill/turn capability, and multi spindle turning capability.
  • Minimum of seven (7) years hands-on experience with programming/set up of 5-axis mills, multi-axis lathes, and development of critical machining processes, supporting aerospace, commercial aircraft, or any specialized fabrication of close tolerance production hardware.
  • Minimum five (5) years working with hardened metals.
  • Experience with one or more of the following CNC machines: Hermle, Hass, DMG Mori, GF Mikron, and/or Okuma
  • Fluent in use of precision hand tools and familiar with use of personal computers
  • Individual must be self-motivating to prioritize work to meet project completion dates
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • * NX experience preferred

    * Nickel based alloys, copper, Titanium experience

    * Vericut or other program verification software experience

    * Ability to support off shifts

    * Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight critical hardware

    * CMM programming/operation

    * Setup and operate CNC machines
