Position Summary

Responsible for all payroll related reports and payroll tax filings, certified payroll reports, and supervising payroll clerks. Maintain the accuracy and scheduling of payrolls. Investigate and settle disputes regarding possible errors.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the entire process of the payroll system for 1900+ employees (varies by season).
  • Maintain and update files in the payroll system.
  • Collect weekly timesheets and payroll requests.
  • Review payroll edits.
  • Ensures that payroll is processed accurately and complies with internal and state/federal policies and procedures.
  • Timely and accurate submission of: Payroll reports; Tax reports; State Labor reports.
  • Comply with garnishments and process in a timely manner (Child Support, IRS Levies, State Levies, etc.)
  • Maintain current knowledge of applicable state and federal wage and hour laws.
  • Insures that there are proper procedures and internal controls in place to monitor payroll processing.
  • Timely payment of payroll taxes.
  • Acts as the primary interface between the Payroll Department and Accounting Department for all programs/functions.
  • Oversee the integration and implementation of changes to the Payroll system.
  • Develop, evaluate and administer payroll accounting procedures.

Qualifications

  • Indirect supervision.
  • Requires the use of advanced techniques and knowledge within his/her function.
  • Applies diversified knowledge of applicable principles and practices to a broad variety of assignments.
  • Makes decisions independently regarding complexities and methods.
  • Supervision and guidance related largely to overall objectives, critical issues, new concepts and policy matters.
  • Liaison to groups within and outside of his/her organization with responsibility to act independently regarding matters pertaining to his/her function.
  • College/University graduate with 7 years relevant experience or equivalent combination of skills and experience generally expected for specified technical roles.
