Summary:

The Assistant Dean of Development for the Tyler School of Art and Architecture, reporting to the Dean and the Associate Vice President of Development, will manage a portfolio of prospects with a capacity of $50,000 and greater to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors to the School. Working in collaboration with the Dean and the Assistant Vice President, the Assistant Dean will create, manage, and execute strategies to increase philanthropic investment at Tyler. The individual will work closely with Institutional Advancement central operations in aligning unit-based priorities with those of institutional leadership. The Assistant Dean will serve on the Dean's administrative leadership team and will create and implement strategies designed to support the funding of the dean's priorities. In collaboration with the Dean and Associate Vice President, the Assistant Dean will manage the Board of Visitors, consisting of the School's top prospects and donors. In addition, the Assistant Dean will have oversight and management responsibilities of associated staff. This person must be a highly energetic, organized, and enthusiastic professional with a track record of building donor relationships, working collaboratively and strategically, with a strong knowledge of principles, ethics, and practices of successful fundraising. Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience:

Bachelor's degree and at least seven years of fundraising experience with a proven track record of closing six to seven figure gifts. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Preferred:

* Experience in art or architecture and higher education.

* Master's degree and higher education fundraising experience

Required skills and abilities:

* Strong verbal and written communications skills.

* Demonstrated leadership and staff management experience.

* Demonstrated knowledge of Excel and Access.

* Ability to organize multiple projects and work in an environment including diverse groups of faculty, staff, alumni, donors, and students.

* Must be a highly energetic, organized, and enthusiastic professional with a track record of building donor relationships.

* Ability to take initiative to work collaboratively and strategically, with a strong knowledge of principles, ethics and practices of successful fundraising.

* Excellent interpersonal skills along with the ability to interact with a diverse group of constituents both inside and outside the university.

* Knowledge of planned giving techniques and programs available to implement such gifts.

* Entrepreneurial skills in identifying donors, cultivating meaningful relationships, and constructing creative gifting opportunities and agreements.

* Demonstrated creativity and strategic thinking with the ability to take initiative and the willingness to learn

* Ability to make policy decisions, when necessary, multi-task, set priorities, adapt to changes and meet deadlines

* Ability to understand and work with budgetary procedures and policies.

* Willingness and ability to travel and work evening and weekend hours. Must exhibit a strong intellectual curiosity, and proficiency in active listening.

* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

* Must be a positive thinker, and strong team leader and player
