Job Family Description

Maintenance/production personnel support the operational success of nuclear and non-nuclear facilities, buildings, systems, and shops. Professionals in these roles are responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective operation of equipment, machinery, and production processes to meet quality, safety, and productivity standards.

Discipline Description

Maintenance support personnel provide assistance and coordination for the maintenance and upkeep of equipment, facilities, and infrastructure. Maintenance support personnel may perform routine maintenance tasks on equipment, including inspection and repair, manage inventory, and ensure maintenance activities comply with safety standards. Maintenance support personnel may perform routine calibrations of equipment and instruments to support facility operations and monitoring. They may perform shop fabrication and machining of equipment to support facility operations.

Some Typical Duties & Responsibilities Include:

Develop engineering specifications and designs for process, operations, calibration, material and test equipment, installed or portable process instrumentation, or functional area systems. Develop, review, and implement operating and calibration procedures and standards. Plan and implement process and design changes for new and existing processes, systems and
equipment. Maintain inventory of fixed and portable testing equipment. Prioritize projects and programs to reflect shifting DOE priorities. Prioritize and plan technical support programs to achieve division goals. Develop performance indicators to persuade senior management of projected program and equipment changes. Oversee installation of new equipment, major equipment modifications, and various other major equipment issues which support processes, calibration, measuring,
or site operations. Conduct technical reviews of proposed operations, calibration, or measuring equipment
modifications. Provide technical support to operations and maintenance technicians and other personnel as requested.
Acts as advisor to less qualified technical support specialists to meet schedules and or resolve technical issues. May develop and administer budgets, schedules, and performance requirements.

Knowledge Skills:
Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair electronic equipment and systems.
* Given equipment and software manuals, perform programming of radio and PA system equipment.
* Perform maintenance of equipment from an aerial lift platform, bucket truck or ladder.
* Be available for call-in, to perform work outside of normal work hours as needed, to maintain various communications equipment and systems.

* Motorola ASTRO 25 IV&D Core Workshop
* Motorola Radio programming experience
* Maintenance and repair of Motorola Radios, portables, mobiles, and base stations
* Motorola MCC -7500 Console Maintenance and repair
* Use of test equipment: Spectrum Analyzers, RF Service Monitors, Sound Level Meters, STIPA testers, Voltage/Current Meters
* (PA) Public Address maintenance and repair
* PA system design and operation
* Computer Application of software patches
* Computer network experience

Required Qualifications

* Associate's degree in relevant field plus completion of applicable certification or on-the-job training plus at least 1.5 years of experience (YOE) in an applicable role, OR High school diploma plus completion of applicable certification or on-the-job training plus at least three years of experience (YOE) in an applicable role
* Equivalencies to experience and education requirements will be considered

Security Clearance Information

SRNS is required by DOE to conduct a pre-employment drug & alcohol test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, criminal records, and employment history, and education verifications. Positions with SRNS may require applicants to obtain and maintain a DOE L or Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship. Factors such as pre-employment background review results, dual citizenship status, and unpaid and/or unfiled taxes may impact your ability to obtain a security clearance.
