This role is based in our Chicago office. We are operating in a hybrid work environment, where we are in-office 3 days/week.

About the Role

Strong and vibrant communities are a precursor to investor success. This role will report into the Global Director, Workforce Engagement, and lead the strategic development, execution, and measurement of Morningstar's community engagement initiatives across the globe. The Manager of Community Impact & Giving will oversee a comprehensive portfolio of programs, strategy, communications, partnerships, and governance efforts that empower employees to make a meaningful impact in their communities.

This role requires strategic visioning. The successful candidate is an analytical thinker and operational leader who can inspire participation, manage cross-functional relationships, and pursue community impact strategies that are in alignment with Morningstar's brand, values, and business objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and implementation of a multi-year community impact roadmap that aligns with enterprise ESG goals, corporate norms, and stakeholder engagement priorities, particularly employee engagement.
  • Cultivate relationships with internal and external stakeholders across the globe to understand Morningstar community impact pillars -- 1) Broadening Knowledge and Exposure; 2) Securing Financial Futures; and 3) Supporting Environmental Health.
  • Lead the design and implementation of signature community impact programs, including Global Volunteer Days and Global Giving Drive.
  • Support and empower a global network of Community Champions through regular check-ins, quarterly meetings, updated resources, and recognition programs. Provide guidance and resources to business units and ERGs to support localized community efforts.
  • Deliver timely, accurate, and actionable reporting to internal and external stakeholders, including contributing to the annual Morningstar Corporate Sustainability Report.
  • Maintain and update global policies related to community investment and volunteering.
  • Establish governance frameworks for community investment, including risk mitigation, due diligence, and compliance protocols in partnership with Legal, Risk, and Finance.
  • Develop KPIs and dashboards to track program effectiveness, employee participation, and impact outcomes. Align reporting with ESG frameworks such as GRI, SASB, and UN SDGs.
  • Leverage data analytics and business intelligence tools to optimize resource allocation, assess program SROI (social return on investment), identify trends, and inform strategic decision-making.
  • Serve as a strategic liaison across business units, embedding community impact into employee value proposition, brand reputation, and client engagement strategies.
  • Monitor and manage Benevity float funds and identify/pursue global tax opportunities related to charitable giving as part of overall budget oversight.
  • Apply inclusive design principles to ensure programs are responsive and accessible across global markets

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to translate social impact into business value with a record of success.
  • 5+ years of experience in community engagement, corporate social responsibility, nonprofit leadership, branding, employee engagement, or program management.
  • Proven ability to lead large, cross-functional initiatives and manage multiple priorities.
  • Highly effective communication, storytelling, and people skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels - internally and externally.
  • Experience with data analysis, impact measurement, and reporting.
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills including demonstrated experience with research, data gathering, and ability to think strategically.
  • Preferred familiarity with corporate purpose platforms, such as Benevity, a strong understanding of community impact trends, and employee amplification strategies.
  • Demonstrated strategic thinking, envisioning the long-term impact of issues/ideas as they relate to the community.
  • Experience in financial services or regulated industries preferred.

Base Salary Compensation Range

$98,208.00 - 176,792.00 USD Annual

Total Cash Compensation Range

$117,850.00 - 212,150.00 USD Annual

Morningstar's hybrid work environment gives you the opportunity to work remotely and collaborate in-person each week. While some positions are available as fully remote, we've found that we're at our best when we're purposely together on a regular basis, typically three days each week.
