Description

The Residential Loan Originator will use their industry knowledge, marketing, and sales strengths to find prospects, generate leads, and convert application opportunities to loans. The Residential Loan Originator will develop long-term relationships with clients and referral partners. This position will also provide mortgage planning and financial counseling. The Residential Loan Originator will personally interview all loan applicants and ensure that reports and client documentation are accurate and done in a timely manner, along with abiding by all the ethical rules and regulatory guidelines in all aspects of the work. Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Actively soliciting residential mortgage loans, spending a majority of the workday outside of the office performing this task. * Informing prospective loan clients of the financial institution's underwriting guidelines and applicable government regulations.

* Completing each loan application and all pre-processing functions in a timely manner to permit the good faith estimate to be sent within the requested period.

* Screening loan requests based on financial institution policies and on types of loans offered by the institution.

* Networking through real estate association, realtors, attorneys, and prior customers.

* Researching new legislation and regulations that may affect the financial institution's residential lending policies and ensuring compliance with new rules.

* Answering incoming calls, scheduling appointments, and interviewing all loan applicants.

* Communicating complex approvals or denials to the borrower.

* Distributing market data, rate flyers and general loan information to the real estate community as directed by financial institution management.

* Providing excellent customer service to borrowers and potential borrowers.

* Taking residential mortgage loan applications and offering or negotiating terms of a mortgage loan.

* Cross-selling other bank products during the loan process.

Requirements

Education and Certification Qualifications

* Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

* Must be registered with the NMLS and adhere to the requirements of the SAFE Act.

* Valid driver's license required.

Experience and Qualifications

* 3-5 years of experience in mortgage sales.

* Ability to work independently and as a team.

* Excellent verbal and written communications skills, along with organizational skills.

* Attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Physical Requirements

* Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer

* Prolonged periods of standing

* Ability to walk up and down stairs

* Must be able to lift to 10 pounds at times

* Must be willing to attend events outside of the office and on evenings and weekends

Position earns base salary + commission
