The Position As a member of the bank's management team, this position is expected to lead by example, embody these values, and foster a culture of good character, excellence, collaboration, and performance - ensuring our people, clients, and community experience the FSBU difference every day. You are also expected to be visible in the community, take part in bank and community wide events to always foster and promote the Institution's image and brand. Portfolio Manager will be responsible for assisting the loan officers in managing a diverse portfolio of commercial loans, ensuring sound credit quality, and fostering relationships with existing and prospective clients. This position requires a strong understanding of commercial underwriting, risk assessment, and financial analysis. The ideal candidate will work closely with borrowers, lenders, and other stakeholders to facilitate loan growth while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards and internal policies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Portfolio Management: - Assist in managing a portfolio of commercial loans, monitoring performance, compliance, and risk exposure. - Conduct regular reviews of loan performance and ensure timely renewals, modifications, and payoffs. - Identify opportunities for portfolio growth and diversification while managing risk effectively. 2. Underwriting: - Perform comprehensive credit analysis and underwriting of commercial loan applications, including financial statement analysis, cash flow assessment, and collateral evaluation. - Prepare detailed credit memos and present findings and recommendations to the credit committee. - Create cash flow models for underwriting and spread Borrower financial statements. - Help assess borrower creditworthiness and recommend appropriate loan structures and terms. 3. Compliance Review: - Review loan packages with lenders to ensure that all compliance requirements and internal policies are met prior to submission to underwriting. - Ensure that all necessary documentation is complete, accurate, and appropriately logged, while identifying any gaps or issues that need to be addressed. - Conduct post-approval reviews to verify that all conditions have been met and that the final loan package complies with regulatory and internal standards. 4. Relationship Management: - Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their financial needs and providing tailored solutions. - Act as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the loan lifecycle, addressing inquiries and resolving issues as they arise. - Collaborate with the lending team and loan operations to ensure a seamless and efficient loan process. 5. Risk Management: - Monitor economic and market trends that may impact the portfolio and make recommendations for adjustments as necessary. - Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and internal policies related to commercial lending. - Conduct periodic risk assessments and stress testing on the loan portfolio. 6. Reporting and Documentation: - Maintain accurate records of loan documentation, financial information, and communication with clients. - Prepare regular reports on portfolio performance, risk exposure, and underwriting activities for senior management. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Master's degree or relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, CBA) preferred. - Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial lending, with a strong focus on portfolio management and underwriting. - In-depth knowledge of commercial lending products, credit analysis, and financial statement interpretation. - Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to assess complex financial situations. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a customer-focused approach. - Proficient in using Fiserv, Business Analytics, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). |
