Job Summary

The Enterprise Data Scientist applies advanced data science techniques, with a specific emphasis on AI-driven and generative AI solutions, to transform enterprise operations across UCSF. This role involves analyzing large and complex datasets from diverse enterprise systems-including HR, finance, supply chain, research, and administrative domains-to drive strategic insights, improve operational efficiency, and support institutional decision-making.

The Enterprise Data Scientist collaborates with business, clinical, and technical stakeholders to identify key performance indicators, develop predictive models, AI tools, and LLM-powered solutions, and implement data-driven strategies that align with UCSF's mission. This includes developing, validating, and deploying machine learning models and generative AI analytics while ensuring data governance, reliability, and compliance with security best practices.

The role requires expertise in deploying and operationalizing Large Language Models and integrating generative AI into enterprise workflows. Candidates should have experience working with statistical techniques, AI frameworks (e.g., OpenAI API, LangChain, vector databases), and developing predictive models into complex operational environments. The ideal candidate will have strong programming skills (Python, R, SQL, JavaScript, etc.), be familiar with programming with APIs, and possess experience with business intelligence tools (Tableau, Power BI) and enterprise data platforms such as ERP and financial reporting systems. Effective communication skills are essential, as the Enterprise Data Scientist must translate complex technical analyses into actionable insights for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.
