This is a full-time, non-exempt position. The full annual salary range is $64,105.60 - $91,707.20 coupled with a comprehensive benefits package including excellent health, dental, vision, life insurance, generous time off (Vacation, 8 Holidays, 4 Floating Holidays), accrued sick leave, Wisconsin Retirement System pension, option to participate in 457 retirement savings plans.
PRIMARY FUNCTION
The position is an advanced position and shall act as a crew leader which works independently or as a member of a crew and is expected to perform routine tasks with minor supervision and serve as acting supervisor for sewer when the Deputy Director of Utilities is unavailable. The Deputy Director of Utilities will provide direction and oversight on special projects and work assignments daily. There is frequent interaction with the general public and other Village departments.
The Crew Leader - Sewer performs a variety of duties related to the Sewer and Water Utilities Systems and will be required to lead daily field operations for the sewer area of the Utility Dept and perform skilled and manual work in the inspection, cleaning, repair, and operation of gravity and force mains, manholes, lift stations, metering stations, and related telemetry systems to provide reliable sanitary-sewer service in full compliance with NPDES, and WDNR requirements. The Crew Leader - Sewer will be required to be cross trained to perform maintenance and repair of the Village's water supply and distribution system.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 1.Performs sewer main and manhole repairs; inspects, televises and analyzes sewer main problems; and operates equipment required to clean and repair sewer mains and lift stations. 2.Monitor and Operate SCADA control systems, CCTV video equipment as well as other technological equipment commonly used in the industry to monitor systems and identify defects in the sewer collection and water distribution systems to recommend corrective actions and document events. 3.Provide information and data for rehabilitation projects (CIPP, point repairs, manhole lining, etc.) and coordinate with Engineering Department. 4.Use asset management and workflow software to enter information, evaluate data, establish and close out work orders. 5.Coordinate with Deputy Director of Utilities to prepare daily work schedules and safety briefings; supervise jet-vac, CCTV, and excavation crews. 6.Investigate customer reports of backups, odors, or surface inflow; explain causes, corrective actions, and preventive measures to property owners. 7.Cross training in maintenance and operation of a water distribution system (including monitoring systems function via remote computer systems); performs repair of water main breaks, service leaks and curb boxes; performs installation of water meters, leak detection and inspections, and customer service complaint investigations and monitors the operation of wells, hydrants and valves including data and water sampling collection. 8.Perform routine servicing and light maintenance of equipment. 9.Assist in maintaining and managing department inventory of supplies, materials, tools, signs, etc. 10.Position requires occasional overtime work and carrying a cell phone on a rotating schedule for on-call assignments. Required to work weekend or evening hours as directed. 11.Respond to call outs for utility emergencies and snow plowing within 30 minutes of the call-out. Crew Leaders are used as back up plow drivers (training will be provided). 12.Other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES 1.Comprehensive knowledge of wastewater-collection hydraulics, lift-station operations, SSO response, and CMAR reporting. 2.Comprehensive technical knowledge of sanitary sewer collection system operations and maintenance including pump and controller operations. 3.Working knowledge of occupational hazards and procedures to enforce safe work practices. 4.Familiarity with the basics of traffic control requirements and assist in maintaining and managing department inventory of supplies, materials, tools, signs, etc. 5.Familiarity of the principles and practices of effective supervision. 6.Ability to train, direct, coordinate, schedule, review and evaluate staff and work. 7.Ability to interpret related scientific, technical, legal and financial reports, blueprints, schematics, diagrams, sketches, descriptions, surveys and other documents. 8.Ability to operate the following equipment: backhoe, front end loader to load trucks, and all single/tandem and quad axle dump trucks and use proper loading, unloading and backing techniques. 9.Ability to plow with a single/tandem axle plow truck with front and wing mounted plows while operating a spreader and dump body for sand/salt application. 10.Ability to independently analyze technical equipment and information to determine solutions. 11.Ability to read, write and interpret documents including but not limited to safety rules, operations and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. 12.Ability to keep accurate records and prepare reports. 13.Ability to work with mathematical concepts required in the performance of job duties. 14.Ability to use various computer programs, including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Cartegraph, Asset Management Systems, GIS Systems and SCADA systems. 15.Ability exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 16.Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with co-workers, village departments, and citizens whose backgrounds may differ from one's own. 17.Ability to analyze and resolve problems. 18.Ability to effectively organize and prioritize work. 19.Ability to exhibit critical thinking skills.

Minimum Qualifications

- High-school diploma or equivalent.
- Five (5) years progressively responsible work experience in sanitary-sewer collection systems, preferably including two (2) years in a lead or supervisory role.
- NASSCO PACP, LACP, and MACP certifications (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
- Wisconsin Wastewater Collection System Operator (or ability to obtain within 12 months).
- Valid Wisconsin CDL Class A/B with air-brake endorsement; tanker endorsement with ability to obtain endorsement within 90 days of hire.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Frequent standing, walking, climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, crawling, and reaching; ability to lift, push, and pull 25-100 lbs (two-person lift).
- Lift frequently 25 to 50 lbs., and constantly 10 to 20 lbs.
- Work outdoors year-round in extreme weather; exposure to heat, cold, wet, slippery conditions, wastewater, hydrogen-sulfide gas, loud noise, moving traffic, trench hazards, chemicals, fumes, and confined spaces.
- Required PPE includes hard hat, steel-toe/ANSI boots, high-visibility garments, eye/ear protection, respirator (as needed), chemical-resistant gloves, and confined-space retrieval gear.
