The Mechanic Heavy Equipment position involves maintaining and repairing railroad equipment for optimal performance and safety. This is a full-time job (40 hrs/wk),subject to alternating shifts, night, on-call, weekends, overtime and holidays. A typical work week is 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Travel is minimal. Trainingfor this position is company-paid on-the-job training. Key responsibilities may include: Disassembling, repairing, modifying, remanufacturing, and troubleshooting railroad roadway maintenance equipment and their operating and control systems. Daily work is conducted in a safety sensitive environment where the working conditions can include diverse and extreme weather conditions (hot, cold, rain, snow, and sleet), walking and performing work on uneven surfaces, working around loud noises, fumes, and heavy/moving machinery.
