MedStar Health is looking for a Lead Nuclear Med/Neurology/Cardiology to join our team!

The Lead Nuclear Med/Neurology/Cardiology Prepares, administers, and measures the concentration of radioactive isotopes in specific body areas of patients. Technical procedures are performed that require independent judgment, ingenuity, and initiative to provide patients with quality nuclear medicine services that educate patients and exceed patients' expectations. Responsibility is assumed for designated areas or procedures as required. Provides the utmost attention to the individuals medical needs, dignity, and comfort, therein supporting the objectives of the organization. Performs laboratory tests on body specimens and computes results. The Nuclear Medicine Technologist Lead shall additionally provide leadership and guidance to the Nuclear Medicine / Neurology and Non-Echocardiography Cardiology department associates and possesses and demonstrates appropriate knowledge and technique to provide appropriate clinical care to the specific patient population.

Primary Duties:

• Delivers High-Quality Imaging Services Performs imaging procedures across multiple modalities with clinical competency, including preparation and administration of contrast agents and radioisotopes as directed. Ensures adherence to departmental protocols, proper image labeling, and thorough patient explanation and consent.
• Ensures Regulatory Compliance and Patient Safety Maintains strict compliance with HIPAA, radiation safety, and federal/state/accreditation guidelines. Verifies patient identity using two identifiers and upholds infection control, radiation, and isotope handling standards.
• Maintains Accurate Documentation and Systems Completes and manages imaging records in RIS and PACS, ensuring timely availability of images for radiologist interpretation. Keeps comprehensive documentation such as calibrations, dose logs, room surveys, and pharmaceutical records.
• Supports Operational Efficiency and Staff Management Assists with staffing schedules, orientation, training, mentoring, and employee performance feedback. Coordinates QA activities, tracks departmental volume, audits, productivity, and contributes to corrective action as needed.
• Contributes to Departmental Goals and Financial Health Provides excellent customer service while supporting budget planning, coding, billing, and revenue cycle management in collaboration with department leadership. Participates in continuous improvement and customer satisfaction initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree Graduate of an Accredited School of Nuclear Medicine or in a relevant field (Required)
• 1-2 years Practical experience (Preferred)
• NMTCB- Nuclear Medicine Technologist active in Maryland. Licensure Must obtain certification the Board of Physician Quality Assurance. (Required)

This position has a hiring range of $46.17 - $75.62
