POSITION SUMMARY:

Preconstruction Project Managers are responsible for the activities that occur at the beginning of a project, prior to the start of construction. Responsibilities include budgeting, scheduling and logistics planning. Estimators are expected to work with people at all levels of Project Management and Field Supervision to establish budget and operational priorities, helping to ensure a quality project.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

Project Management



  • Perform detailed quantity surveys both manually and electronically
  • Possess knowledge of and ability to develop detailed pricing
  • Develop detailed scopes of work by trade
  • Perform Value Engineering/Value Analysis
  • Perform building systems analysis and constructability reviews
  • Possess knowledge of cost and pricing trends and develop escalation analysis
  • Develop conceptual estimates from limited information
  • Level and descope competitively bid trades
  • Identify cost drivers and develop alternative solutions



Leadership



  • Provide leadership through building relationships, motivating others, providing clear direction, and cooperative teamwork
  • Communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with immediate team members, Operational Project Management teams, and with clients and the design team.
  • Provide training and serve as a mentor to less experienced personnel



POSITION REQUIREMENTS:



  • B.S. in Construction Engineering or related technical area
  • 5+ years of experience
  • Prior experience in a pre-construction role with projects over $5M
  • Knowledge of Destini or a similar electronic estimating software
  • Knowledge of Construct Connect or a similar takeoff software
  • Knowledge of Revit preferred
  • Work from the Des Plaines office


The target salary for this position is $100,940. We consider many factors when determining actual hiring salary. These factors may include location, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, internal equity, and market demands.
