JOB SUMMARY The Coordinator is responsible for managing the operations of the Campus Pride and Gender Center, including supervising student employees and creating programs, initiatives, services and partnerships to support, assist, and empower students regarding their sexual orientation and other intersecting identities. This individual will work collaboratively with the Dean of Students Office, other student support and programming offices, committees, student organizations, affinity groups, and other university areas to reinforce best practices relating to student development, advocacy and support for all students regarding sex, gender, and sexual orientation identity. Related, this staff member will provide subject matter expertise related to the LGBTQIA+ community to support Hamline University students, staff and faculty. This position works in collaboration with the Title IX Coordinator to coordinate all required training for the Hamline community and to assist with compliance, investigations and resolution processes.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES STUDENT SUPPORT, PROGRAMS, AND SERVICES Manage the Campus Pride and Gender Center · Staff, coordinate, maintain, and develop the office hours, programming, events, budget, marketing, social media, website, and training materials · Supervise student-workers, volunteers, and any student interns. · Create programming, events, training, and networking opportunities for students, faculty, staff, and alumni. · Manage, develop and maintain the Rainbow Inclusion Network programing and other campus wide events, including but not limited to: o Welcome Events, Student Retreats, Coming Out Week, and the end-of-year celebration event. o Initiatives for students that address individual identity development, sexism, sexual violence, and the development of a healthy view of self, relationships and community. o Collaborate with various organizations, program initiatives and support groups to advance networking, collaboration and synergy around common issues and opportunities, including leadership retreats; and, o Coordinate Hamline University’s participation in the Twin Cities Pride Festival. · Advise student organizations and coordinate support groups focused on gender and sexual orientation issues and identities. · Engage university members in developing and implementing institutional policies, protocols, programs and practices that support the campus community regarding gender and sexuality needs and identities. · Mentor, advice, support and advocate for individual students. · Outreach to university and community organizations from, social, economic, cultural, economic, and social lenses to support an individual’s positive sexual identity and gender-based self-images. DEPUTY TITLE IX COORDINATOR · Support the University’s Title IX compliance initiatives and programs including NCAA compliance, developing and implementing policies and protocols, conducting training/coordinating investigations, effectively responding to complaints, and coordinating matters involving gender-related complaints. · Review ongoing federal, state and local level legal and policy recommendations and attend annual training for Title IX certifications and other required training. · Assist in updating and tracking Title IX training opportunities for the university. · Chair the Sexual Violence Prevention Task Force. · Develop and implement prevention programming, including bystander intervention training, Take Back the Campus event, Sexual Violence Prevention Week and others. · Assist in the implementation of resolution processes for Title IX, Non-Discrimination and Harassment, Grievance and Student Conduct processes, training, and advisor support. · Attend and participate in the Ramsey County Protocol Team, Ramsey County colleges/university subcommittee and other related meetings or trainings. MISCELLANEOUS RESPONSIBILITIES · Serve as a resource for issues of access, belonging, and community regarding gender, sexual orientation and the intersections of these with other issues and identities. · Serve on campus wide committees. · Assist with crisis management, response and intervention as issues arise. · Other duties as requested.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS · This position reports to the: Associate Vice President/ Associate Dean of Students · This position supervises student workers, interns and volunteers, and advises student leaders.
BUDGET MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITIES This position is responsible for managing the operation budget ($15,000-20,000) as well as applicable gift fund(s).
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND KEY COMPETENCIES · Knowledge of Title IX policy development and implementation. · Experience working with students in a higher education institution in the areas of academic success, student development, student organizations advising, and access, belonging, and community. · Experience with training on topics related to sex, gender, sexuality. · Understanding of student development theories and diversity education with previous experience developing services and programs for students across genders and sexual orientations. · Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to facilitate presentations and programs.
MINIMUM EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE · Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. · Three (3) years working in a college or university with experience in student affairs, Title IX, LGBTQIA+ student support, student programming or a related field; this experience can be as a graduate student.
PREFERRED EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE · Master’s degree from an accredited college or university in Higher Education, Student Personnel, or related field. · Two (2) years of professional experience working in a college or university setting with experience in student affairs, Title IX, LGBTQIA+ student support, student programming or a related field. · Two (2) years of professional experience in program planning, implementation and co-curricular assessment, as well as budget development and management. · Experience working with community partners and networking on university outreach initiatives.
WORKING CONDITIONS / EQUIPMENT Must perform the following essential functions with or without a reasonable accommodation: · Ability to work some evening and weekend programs. · Ability to travel on and off campus locations. · Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time. · Must be able to participate for extended periods of time during some campus events, as needed.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION · This is a full time, 0.92 FTE, exempt position, 11 months a year.
COMPNESENSTION and BENEFITS: Pay Range: $50,000 - $55,000 annually
