Anti-Submarine Tactical Air Controller (ASTAC) Trainer

Purpose:


  • Valkyrie Enterprises has an immediate need for an Anti-Submarine Tactical Air Controller (ASTAC) Trainer who will be a key support to of Surface Combat Systems Training Command (SCSTC-HR) in Norfolk, VA.


Job Description:


  • Develop, organize, and conduct training and educational programs for Fleet sailors in support of Surface Combat Systems Training Command.
  • Provides dynamic teaching & training as well as assessment that require advanced knowledge of ASW/ASUW air control tactics and procedures for all Aegis baselines.
  • Prepare, review, and customize curriculum lesson plans and instructor guides in support of traditional classroom teaching.
  • Develop, test, maintain, and deliver moderately complex ASW/ASUW training scenarios, training programs and related materials in support of SCSTC training objectives.
  • Serve as an Anti-Submarine Tactical Air Controller (ASTAC) Instructor to train fleet ASTAC's in tactical employment of the Anti-Submarine Warfare/Anti-Surface Unit Warfare (ASW/ASUW) Air Assets to include the SH-60R and P-8 Poseidon Multi-Mission Aircraft (MMA) air frames.
  • Provide subject matter expertise in support of curriculum development for SCSTC courses supporting the operational employment of the ASW/ASUW assets available to the fleet.
  • Review and analyze ASW/ASUW air tactics and procedures IAW U.S. Navy Operational and Tactical procedures. Integrates and conceptualizes the execution of operational and tactical procedures, optimizing the application of ship's Air Control capabilities and limitation in the dynamic ASW/ASUW operational tactical environment.
  • Conduct assessment of the sailors' abilities to comply with approved operational and tactical procedures, and ships Battle Orders and thereafter provides formal appraisal of performance with recommendations for improvement and methods to maintain tactical and procedural proficiency.
  • Observes and assesses contemporaries during Practice and Certification Teaches per requirements NAVEDTRA 135.
  • Support Course Reviews and Curriculum Updates, conducts training gap analysis, and provides formal feedback and recommendations for course improvement.
  • Documents the training conducted with specifics of the individual areas / watch station and is responsible for generation of a formal assessment of measure of success via written report.
  • Maintain records of training activities, participant progress, and program effectiveness and maintains current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.


Qualifications:


  • Must have a Bachelor's Degree in a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications, training, or work/military experience and at least 7 years of experience with the required system (ASW/ASUW) Air Assets as an Anti-Submarine Tactical Air Controller (ASTAC) or supervisor with responsibility for teaching the applicable systems or function task to others in an advanced level training environment.
  • Must have at least 1 year of experience as an instructor in a Navy Training Environment, to include presentation skills, public speaking, curriculum maintenance, writing learning objectives, preparing test items, evaluating instructional materials and the results of instruction and counseling students on academic learning problems.
  • Must have the ability to conduct traditional classroom instruction and support tactical lab training.


Desired Qualifications:


  • Experience as trainer/instructor in support of SCSTC/ATRC/TACTRAGRU is preferred.


Security Requirements:


  • Must have an Active DoD Secret security clearance and the ability to maintain a clearance.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance to access military facilities, naval shipyards, private shipyards, and Naval installations.


Travel Requirements:


  • Occasional travel- less than 10%
  • If position requires travel by domestic flight or access to secure federal facilities/military bases, candidate must be able to obtain (by start of position) and maintain appropriate identification credentials, such as REAL ID. Physical Requirements:


  • Must be able to support training with extended periods on your feet while instructing.
  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.

Pay Range: $75,000 - $80,000 per year
