Department:Planning and Development Department Organizational Unit:Code Enforcement investigation Position Type:Permanent Full Time/Part Time:Full Time Open until filled. $20.94 to $23.03 hourly. Actual salary negotiable based on experience and qualifications. Government Center/Viera. Work schedule is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Performs experienced technical work supporting the activities of the Code Enforcement Office, receiving complaints from the public, answering questions relating to ordinances, and assisting in the preparation of code violation cases for Special Magistrate hearings. REQUIREMENTS: Five (5) years of office experience, which includes two (2) years of experience explaining and interpreting rules, codes, and ordinances OR two (2) years as a Brevard County Code Enforcement Specialist I PLUS successful completion of any two (2) phases of the Brevard County Employee Development Program and received a passing score on each phase examination PLUS successful completion of one (1) approved Brevard County leadership course, including 7-Habits of Highly Effective People, 5-Choices to Extraordinary Productivity, Emotional Intelligence, or another Brevard County approved leadership course PLUS a current performance evaluation score of 4.0 or higher, with no performance evaluation factors with a rating of a 1 or 2. Additional qualifying education and/or experience may be substituted on a year for year basis. SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must possess, or obtain within six (6) months of employment, an active Florida Notary Public certification and maintain said certification during the term of employment. EXTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY: Must complete, within nine (9) months of employment, all of the Brevard County Mandatory Training for the Development of New Employees classes PLUS must complete within fifteen (15) months of employment, any two (2) phases of the Brevard County Employee Development Program and receive a passing score on each phase examination PLUS must complete within eighteen (18) months of employment, one (1) approved Brevard County leadership course, including 7-Habits of Highly Effective People, 5-Choices to Extraordinary Productivity, Emotional Intelligence, or another Brevard County approved leadership course. In the event of a hurricane, major storm, natural or man-made disaster that may threaten the area, the employee will be required to perform emergency duties as directed.
