Our team consists of members from the Department of Emergency Medicine and Department of Surgery. Both departments at UCI are committed to advancing clinical care, education and research to help patients with diverse emergent and surgical conditions. We offer patient-centered care, applying cutting edge skills to combat serious illness and injury. In addition, our physicians conduct innovative research aimed at preventing injury and disease.


Your Role on the Team

Under the direction of the Principal Investigator, the SRA 1 will be responsible for assisting with day-to-day operations of assigned research projects, community outreach, and writing science briefs. The candidate will assist in reviewing scientific literature, enrolling and surveying study participants, maintaining accurate and organized records, and compiling data for both community outreach and scientific publication. The candidate will work with the principal investigator and other research staff to further the research goals of the team.

Candidates must have completed or be enrolled in a bachelor's degree in a related field and have excellent typing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate SRA who is eager to learn, able to work independently and as part of a team and is adaptable to a dynamic research environment. The ideal candidate will be organized, efficient and detail-oriented with strong communication and writing skills.


What It Takes to be Successful

Required:

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships.
  • Organizational skills to maintain records and coordinate other tasks as required.
  • Ability to understand data analysis and data analytics.
  • Experience working and communicating with sensitive populations, such as substance use and/or with HIV-infected populations.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of personal computers and relevant software programs (e.g., data entry, word processing, podcast editing, artificial intelligence tools for marketing, spreadsheets, Wordpress, design software).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally, and in writing, with subjects, staff, and supervisors.
  • Ability to communicate effectively about task deadlines and ability to complete on time.
  • Skilled in keeping accurate and timely records and excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently, report to Principal Investigator on a regular basis and in a timely manner while managing competing demands / assignments / deadlines.
  • Ability to be punctual and maintain a satisfactory attendance record.
  • Knowledge of SurveyMonkey, Qualtrics, RED Cap, Google Analytics, Wordpress, Dashboard, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficient writing skills to prepare/compose/review a variety of materials with accuracy and completeness.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a large volume of work efficiently and meet deadlines with frequent interruptions and changing priorities.
  • Familiarity with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) to ensure confidentiality, privacy and security of patient information.
  • Current enrollment or completion of a Bachelor's Degree in biomedical sciences, computing, or other relevant degree or equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred:

  • Bilingual Spanish (read, write, and speak).
