General Summary of Position We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Healthcare Business Analyst with expertise in Workforce Management Systems. This role involves collaborating with stakeholders to analyze, implement, and optimize workforce management solutions, ensuring alignment with the organization's healthcare operations and compliance requirements. The ideal candidate will bring a strong understanding of healthcare workflows, workforce management technologies, and business process improvement. Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Responsible for analysis, configuration, maintenance, testing, and support for computer based corporate application system upgrades, new releases, and optimization implementations for MedStar Health. Works closely with developers and/or key users, assessing business needs and determining/implementing information technology solutionsEngages with stakeholders, including HR, operations, and IT teams, to gather and document business requirements for workforce management systems.Conducts gap analysis to identify inefficiencies or areas for improvement in current workforce management processes.Decomposes high-level business and user requirements into functional requirements, specified in an appropriate level of detail suitable for use by those responsible for basing their work on said requirements.Develops and maintains good relationships with customers and systems colleagues to ensure successful implementations and to meet expected customer service levels. Performs business analysis and document business requirements using easy to understand tools and methodologies.Partners with vendors and internal teams to evaluate, implement, and tailor workforce management solutions to meet healthcare operational needs.Configures workforce management systems to support scheduling, timekeeping, and compliance requirements, ensuring scalability and accuracy.Supports system integration efforts, including EMR systems and HR/Payroll platforms.Analyzes workforce data to recommend strategies for optimizing resource utilization, minimizing overtime, and improving scheduling efficiency.Collaborates with nursing, clinical, and non-clinical departments to ensure staffing models align with patient care standards.Identifies and validates business objectives and generates solutions that align with MedStar's technology strategy and standards.Leads in analyzing data to identify opportunities for improvement.Ensures solutions comply with healthcare industry, governmental and accreditation regulations such as FLSA, labor laws, and union agreements. Designs and generates workforce performance reports, dashboards, and analytics to drive data-informed decision-making.Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards and safety standards.Provides training and support to managers and staff on using workforce management systems effectively.Develops and executes test plans to validate system configurations, updates, and integrations.Troubleshoots and resolves system-related issues, providing end-user support as needed.Manages a coordinated User Acceptance Test (UAT) effort.Acts as a liaison between technical teams, business units, and third-party vendors.Provides expertise to team members and mentors junior team members and 2nd level production support.
Minimum Qualifications Education
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Management, Information Systems, Computer Science or similar field required
- One year of relevant education may be substituted for one year of required work experience.
Experience
- 3-4 years in business analysis, with a focus on workplace management systems (e.g., Symplr, Kronos, UGK, Workday, Time and Labor, etc). required
- One year of relevant professional-level work experience may be substituted for one year of required education.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong understanding of healthcare workflows, including clinical and non-clinical scheduling and timekeeping
