Job Description

As a Staff Software Engineer for Learning Enablement Technology (LET) within VAS PD,, you'll be part of a global team, with ownership over the entire development lifecycle and support for a broad portfolio of custom-built applications and multiple SaaS vendors.

LET provides technology ownership for Visa Consulting and Analytics applications including Visa University (our flagship learning solution for financial industry professionals offering classes and certifications), Minerva (an Issuer Benchmark Study service, crucial for providing in-depth performance and profitability analysis for credit card issuers), and VCA Knowledge Xchange (a key tool for facilitating knowledge exchange and learning for Visa consultants).

Your contributions will be vital in shaping the future of these platforms, ensuring they continue to meet the needs of our users and maintain Visa's position as a leader in the industry. Your responsibilities will span over the entire portfolio and include design, technology ownership, security and infrastructure management, software development, and support. You will also manage relationships with vendors, consultants, business stakeholders, and technology partners.

This is a very hands-on individual contributor role in Austin, USA. The Work itself:

  • As a Staff Software Engineer, you will build, integrate, and support lasting, scalable, and secure solutions which deliver a delightful user experience and are resilient.

  • Develop new features for the suite of VCA's .NET applications and enhance SaaS integration.

  • Continue to learn about the industry and propose new payments solutions to meet future needs. Leverage latest technologies including Gen AI tools.

  • Evangelize and adhere to SDLC governance framework.

  • Support conversations with product managers, design team, and cross-functional technology groups to ensure that the right solutions are available and accessible to our users around the world.

  • Produce development, support artifacts and participate in code-reviews.

  • Ensure the highest level of Engineering and Operational Excellence following CRE (Corporate Reliability Engineering) principles.

  • Provide on-call support for high priority incidents and serve as a release manager.

  • Act as ATC (Application Technical Contact), security steward, and manage infrastructure as needed.

  • Participate in vendor management, assessment, and selection.

  • Work with limited direction, usually within a complex and fast paced environment to drive delivery of solutions and meet service levels

This is a hybrid position. Expectation of days in office will be confirmed by your hiring manager.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

*5+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or at least 2 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 0 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 8+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

*6 or more years of work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 4 or more years of relevant experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or up to 3 years of relevant experience with a PhD

*Web application development experience in C# .Net/ Core or expert in Java with a willingness to learn the .NET framework.

*8 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor's Degree or more than 5 years of work experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD)

*Hands-on experience in software design, development, and deployment for highly available and highly resilient enterprise solutions.

*Full stack and systems architecture experience highly preferred.

*Passionate about clean code, clean architecture, code quality, software design principles, code governance, managing technical debt, Operations excellence principles.

*Experience in:

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 124,700.00 to 180,650.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
