DSG is seeking a Plumbing/HVAC Business Development Specialist for our St. Paul, MN location. As a Business Development Specialist, you will be an individual contributor who will drive and support growth in a defined segment and branch. A Typical Day in the Life of a Plumbing/HVAC Business Development Specialist at DSG:
- Support and drive growth of branch through proactive lead generation.
- Work closely with counter sales and inside sales team member(s) to identify, prioritize, and implement initiatives that will improve customer satisfaction and territory growth.
- Educate and train branch employees on new and evolving segments.
- Assist with establishing, managing and maintaining strong customer relationships and accounts.
- Call on customers in territory on a regular basis.
- Provide overall customer service including responding to customer questions and concerns (on product availability, delivery, pricing, billing, product information and capability, and ability to return the product) and to customer complaints (on missing orders, missing items, shipping errors, etc.).
- Act as primary customer contact for assigned customers, as well as back-up contact for unassigned customers.
- Develop relationships with local contractors.
- Create and respond to bid opportunities for commercial projects.
- Represent DSG at local trade shows and business networking events.
- Introduce, promote, and demonstrate new products and marketing programs.
- Provide customers with literature, catalogs and price sheets.
- Meet or exceed branch objective/goals for gross margin, sales and growth.
- Communicate with the branch manager on changes in product demands.
- Immerse into the Eclipse system and EDA reporting system, to become a SME and be able to help the field accelerate through the learning curve.
- All other duties as assigned.
A Successful Plumbing/HVAC Business Development Specialist Typically Has:
- High School diploma or equivalent, with secondary or post-secondary coursework concentrated in a related field, or equivalent on the job experience as determined by the company.
- Product and technical knowledge that would normally be acquired in two or more years of college or technical school and 3-5 years of field experience or equivalent training in residential/commercial application in applicable industry/product line; 3-5 years of selling experience preferred.
- Physical ability to lift up to 60 lbs. on a regular basis, and up to 100 lbs. on an occasional basis (when counter backup or filling or delivering an order).
- Prior computer knowledge, experience and skills helpful.
- Outstanding interpersonal, customer service and communication skills. Experience building strong customer relationships.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record.
