Position Summary The Assistant Athletic Director for Student Success is responsible for supporting the overall well-being of student-athletes at Eastern New Mexico University, with a primary focus on academic success. Additional responsibilities include promoting social development, mental health, retention, and successful matriculation. This role may evolve in response to the changing needs and experiences of student-athletes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement successful recruiting, retention, and graduation strategies for the benefit of student-athletes.
- Advise at-risk/probationary student-athletes on achieving good academic standing.
- Collaborate with Career Services to assist student-athletes with career choices/opportunities and the required coursework.
- Identify campus, state, and federal resources available to student-athletes.
- Participate in ongoing personal and professional development.
- Schedule social development skill opportunities for student-athletes.
- Manage community service opportunities for the athletics department.
- Send out grade reports per term and correspond with professors about travel absences.
- Assist with advising and registration for new and current student-athletes
- Assist student-athletes with financial aid awards, scholarships and applications, as needed.
- Review degree evaluations with student-athletes and monitor academic progress
- Ensure student-athletes are utilizing tutors and other academic support options
- Oversee daytime, evening, and weekend study tables and tutor sessions, and life skills programs to assist with student-athletes' development.
- Serve as department liaison with the Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC).
- Serve as Title IX resource for student athletes and may serve as a deputy Title IX coordinator.
- Perform game administration duties, as needed.
- Assist the Assistant Athletic Director (AAD) for Compliance with NCAA, Conference, and institutional compliance.
- Assist with eligibility certification in cooperation with the Eligibility Officer/Assistant Registrar
- Assist with themonitoring of official and unofficial visits, and other recruiting activities
- Preparefiles for each prospective student-athlete
- Work cooperatively with other university departments, adhering to professional standards andENMU's philosophy.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree
- At least two years of experience working in college athletics with administrative or professional responsibilities.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
- Demonstrated knowledge of the day-to-day operations of an intercollegiate athletics department.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively in writing, orally, by phone, and in person.
- Ability to represent the department and University in a professional, friendly, and courteous manner.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines across multiple projects.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines with high accuracy.
- Cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively in a diverse environment.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the public.
- Knowledge of management methods and ability to provide administrative guidance and direct supervision and training as needed.
- Ability to respond to emergency situations in a timely manner.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to use personal computers, office equipment, and related university software and email.
- Strong commitment to integrity.
- Experience interacting with media outlets.

Working Conditions

Physical Demand and Working Conditions:
- Work is sedentary in nature that at times requires exerting up to 25 pounds of force occasionally and/or a consistent amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
- Work is performed during normal business hours but will include evening and weekend hours.
