- Program Oversight/Leadership for Physical Security and Employee Safety
- Assists the Director in overseeing HMSA's physical security program, including access controls, surveillance systems, incident response protocols, and threat assessments.
- Develops and implements comprehensive physical security and employee safety strategies and solutions including policies, plans, procedures, and other guidance.
- Provides leadership and coordination in response to physical security and employee safety events and managing crises related to other risks that may impact HMSA.
- Assists in guiding the design and implementation of technology-based tools and methods to support programs.
- Works with vendors to oversee appropriate related and parallel programs.
- Creates budgets aligned with business needs.
- Program Management
- Develops and implements written program policies and procedures to protect HMSA facilities, assets, and personnel.
- Maintains procedures and systems for prompt response to physical security and employee safety risks and opportunities.
- Develops and implements effective physical security and employee safety training and education for employees, contractors, and leadership.
- Acts as the primary contact for all employee safety issues and incidents, coordinating with HR, business continuity, and facilities.
- Leads mitigation, recovery activities, and investigation of security incidents during a physical security or employee safety event.
- Prepares clear and concise summaries, reports, agendas, briefings, and other communications for leadership and Executive staff.
- Leads after-action review root cause assessments as requested by management. Develops action plans to remediate gaps and work with responsible parties to complete them. Develops and presents reports.
- Provides regular reports to senior leadership on safety and security metrics, risks, and mitigation plans.
- Serves as a key member of the Crisis Management Team, participating in emergency preparedness planning and response.
- Maintains contact with outside contingency planning professionals and local/regional emergency response groups.
- Manages vendor contracts related to security services, such as security personnel, equipment maintenance, and technology upgrades.
- Risk Management & Mitigation
- Ensures compliance with OSHA standards and other workplace safety and security regulations.
- Conducts safety and security audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate hazards.
- Leads employee safety and security committees
- Develops and leads effective systems for routine testing, monitoring, and evaluating physical security and employee safety risks.
- Leads physical security and employee safety response testing and exercises. Identify gaps and enable solutions.
- Leads work on defining potential risks, analyzing their impact, developing mitigation strategies, and implementing those strategies as they relate to business continuity and emergency response. These evaluations may be extended to HMSA's critical vendors and associates.
- Researches and provides information required under an authorized audit or contractual reporting requirement.
- Leadership
- Manages a team of security and safety professionals, providing training, development, and performance management.
- Monitors the overall inventory of work, prioritizes the staff's work to meet performance standards, and authorizes additional resources as needed.
- Provides feedback and coaching (helping individuals solve problems/issues independently), including timely completion of interim and year-end performance reviews.
- Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned or directed.
